So I had my surgery on May 15th and I lost 32 pounds to date. BUT I havent dropped another pound since I started eating again. I am eating extremely healthy. oatmeal in the morning, tuna at lunch and either fish or turkey with a veggie at dinner. I know I am slacking on the Water. I drink 1-2 per day.

I have my first fill this coming Tuesday. I am very nervous. What should I expect? Does it hurt (I am a big baby)? Is there a special diet I follor before and after the fill? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Nothing to it. A small needle prick. You have to drink Water as dr is filling with the needle hanging out of the port. don't look if you are afraid of needles. they'll have you do liquids, mushy, soft for about 2 days each, then back to were you were. Good luck!

I was banded June 1 and go July 7 for mine, but went with my daughter recently to watch hers being done. Now I'm not comparing her doctor to mine because hers has done hundreds of bands, mine not so much...but I at least I wanted to get an idea....it truly took the doctor about five seconds. Now she didn't have to drink the Water until she got up off the table before she left. My doctor also doesn't do it under fluoroscope and neither did my daughter's. There's mixed opinions on that procedure...some people on here say it's the only proper way to do it. My doctor's comment is "why would I subject you to more radiation?" My daughter's doctor just used a syringe/needle also. As little time as it took, I'm thinking it will be fine.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

He didn't do any scope. He just wanted tomake sure I could drink Water. It helped him make sure it wasn't too tight. He does it while the needle's in so he doesn't have to reprick if it's too tight.

the fill itself isnt too bad, and this is coming from a girl who hates needles. the best advice i can give you is follow your doctors post fill instructions. some people are fine to go back to regular right after a fill. and more than one has told me they do. my stomach is way too sensitive ive gotta gradually build back to it. kind of like an abbreviated version of the post op diet. if you try solids too soon it can be ugly. you take a stomach thats already sensitive from the fill and get it further irritated from a few bad PBing episodes and you can end up swollen and unhappy for days. this was a lesson i learned the hard way. and im not saying that this would necessarily happen to you as severely, but just listen to your doc and take it easy when first filled. id just hate to see anyone end up suffering the way i did a few times

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
