your food? ? I find that I can only eat between 1- 1 1/2 cups of food at the most anyway but I have stopped measuring. I usually just start with a small bit of food and if I'm still hungry, I have a little bit more. My dietitian and specialist said to eat until I feel full (which is what I have been doing) but a lot of people on here seem to still be measuring their foods. If you are still measuring, how much are you eating at any one time?

I've never actually measured. Ever. Maybe that's bad, but I can tell if I'm eating too much without getting out a cup. Plus, not every food can be poured into a cup for good measure. I just eat until I feel full, and I can pretty much eyeball how much I've eaten. Then again, I used to cook a LOT, so the difference between half a cup and a cup is well-engrained in me.

i don't really measure any longer - i got a good idea what 3 or 5ozs & 1 or 1.5cups looks like.

what i still do is eat on a salad plate (unless dining out).

I was told by my MD not to measure but to take small bites, chew well, and don't eat for more then 15 minutes.

Nope. Never have, with the band. This isn't a diet. It's life. I am not going to weigh and count every bite of food I put in my mouth for the rest of my days. Personally when I "diet" I become food obsessed. This is so much better! I did weigh my steak one night and found I can eat about 2 oz before I'm full...but that's it.

I have to have something I can live with, but we're all different

I don't measure anymore either. I eat until I start to get that kind of full feeling. Sometimes I can eat more and sometimes not as much as earlier. I love this band! It is a great tool and I wish I had it done a long time ago.

Nope, never have and hope to never have to. Restless is right this is not a diet. I got the band so that I could get back in tune with my stomach, meaning I wanted the restriction to give me back the feeling of being full and satisfied. Before being banded it took alot of food for me to get full so now that I have the band the restriction sends my brain a message to stop eating. It's been a long time since my brain and stomach worked together. So if I keep my slider foods in check I can usually count on the scale to go down.

I don't measure either I know I can only drink 8oz. at a time.

if you are looking for something that will show you what a portion looks like I have seen these plates on HSN.com Official Site

that have the pics on them I thought they were cute but, a little pricey for 4 plates at 29.99 I think they had three different patterns.

I've never measured, just eat until full. The portion sizes that I can eat from day to day varies, which never ceases to amaze me, so therefore, I don't know how much I'm going to eat in advance. Don't get me wrong..I never eat huge amounts...just different amounts per day. I've lost 43 lbs since Jan. 5, which is a little slower than some other people, but I am fine with that. To be able to eat what I want, stay full, and still lose weight....Priceless!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
