So I finally got to my doc and got a little "unfilled" today.

I threw up twice yesterday because I just couldn't get any food or Water down. I told him this and it was as if he didn't believe me!.... yet I hopped on the scale and since my last visit to him 3 DAYS ago I lost 6.5 pounds.

He took out .5 cc's ? [i'm sorry, I don't get the lingo]

I originally had 4 cc's in. He said 3 is the bare minimum to have in the band... and more or less said to me that less than 4 is a waste because your progress is very slow.

Is this true or was he being a jerk? Ha ha ha

I don't think he's being a jerk, unless he said it jerkishly. Maybe that's just been his experience with his patients. .5 cc's will make a HUGE difference.

However, I have 3.25, and I have good restriction with an average loss of over 3 pounds per week. I think it also depends on the band (mine's a 4cc) and the anatomy of the person. It's kind of a blanket, generalized statement for him to make, but that's JMHO.

If you can't swallow food or Water, what does he expect you to do? Some people need to work up slowly to more cc's and I've never really heard of a minimum effective amt. I know one man who lost 70 pounds before he had his first fill with what was put in at banding which was less than 1cc.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
