Hey scalaholics, does this happen to you?

Recommended Posts

Seriously how do you all do it?!?!?! I know that is why you call yourselves scalaholics but it would drive me crazy and add much more stress than what it's worth. I guess I just don't know how you all feel it's like not knowing why an alcholic has to drink all the time but my point is what if you see that 1lb gained doesn't that depress you? And why weighing in the morning and then AGAIN in the afternoon satisfy you do you really think you can lose a lb during the day? Heck reaching the goal of 1- 2lbs a week is awesome if I even get that... I wegih myself ONLY on Monday's not that I haven't done the very thing you all are doing but I try not to over do it if you will...

But I have to admit I do weigh less before I go to the bathroom, but I also weigh less after I have been up and walking around for an hour then first morning weight that is weird huh?

You all are to funny!!! Before I put my scale up I too had morning weigh rituals!!!!

I put my scale up 2 weeks ago and the first couple days were tough, almost like withdraws, but each day did get easier and I still have not weighed. My plan is to wait until July 8th before dinner with the hubby(date night) he doesen't get a day off until then that's why I called it date night!

It has been a liberating feeling to not be chained to the scale. Now once I bring it out and see that I'm no longer in the 3's who knows weather I have it in me to put it back up.

I'll let you know. Until then weigh on my friends!!!!!

YOU WILL BE IN two'ter'ville before you know it...GOOD LUCK!! It's exciting trust me I know!!!

I do weigh myself every morning when I am empty. I find that scales are not nice creatures! I can move mine an inch or so and get a weight 1/2 more or less than the first time I got on it. So I went out and bought a second scale and pretty much the same things happen. I have a weight watchers and a biggest loser scale. They never agree with each other! If anyone has a good scale I would love to know the brand.

It doesn't really matter which brand you are using so long as you use the same scale all the time.

Other things to focus on are how clothes feel etc.

Don't forget that especially for us females hormones can cause major weight fluctuations too.

It doesnt stress me at all, its habit more than anything.

Firstly, I'm realistic. I dont expect my weight not to fluctuate by a pound or two now and then. I expect to weigh a bit more at night. I expect to gain a bit around period time. I expected plateaus during the loss and didnt worry about those either. I cant understand how people truly think their weight is going to go down by equal increments each and every week.

If I get on the scales and I'm as light as possible, I feel buoyed to continue the good work. If I get on the scale and its up a pound or two, I dont get depressed, I just know to put a lid on it now before it gets away from me. Either way, it motivates me. When I've eaten badly and see the scale up, I know to get back with the program. When i've eaten badly and the scale DOESNT go up it helps me realise that nobody eats perfectly and in the scale of life, if you're good 90% of the time, your weight is going to be fine!

One thing I've NEVER seen is a 5lb gain, lol. I've never gotten a fright because I keep a eagle eye on my weight and manage it on a day to day basis.

Its win win if you ask me. It just depends how you look at it.

Jacqui- Your so right but are all so different, like I said I only weigh on Mondays and it works for me. I think if I were see a 5lb weight gain I would just die LOL!! After I got to restriction level I topped out at 2lbs a week every week since Jan. so I felt I did good, now I do believe I have hit a PLATEOU!!!!!! Darn it!

Jacqui,

I agree with you, its not stressful for me because the overall trend is down. I have been doing pretty well on the program, and I think it is partly because I watch my weight (via the scale) very closely. Like you, a slight uptick does not send me into a bout of depression but it does give me the kick in the pants to correct any errant behavior.

By chance I weighed myself 2 times yesterday. I went to the bathroom when I got up and weighed myself and then a few minutes later I had to go again because I felt the urge to have a BM. Anyway, I weighed exactly the same. Later in the day I read you post so this morning I decided to weigh before going to the bathroom and then after.

Here are the results...I weighed almost 2 pounds less after I went to the bathroom. What can I say...I really had to go today...lol.

Hello, my name is health4life and I am a scaleaholic! :rolleyes2:

All joking aside, I have the same problem. Every morning when I awake, my ritual is to go to the bathroom and pee and poop. When I don't poop, I am afraid to get on the scale but somehow my legs just start moving in the direction of them and somehow before you know it I'm on top of them and wala, I have my results. Now if I've eaten, pizza, chinese or foods high in sodium the night before, the scale is not so kind to me, however, if I've been a good girl, they bless me. This morning was a blessing as I weighed 218. I am trying so hard to lose 18 lbs in 3 weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to best do that, aside from starving. I'm not brave enough for that diet.

That would be 6lbs a week, pretty tough even on a liquid diet.< /p>

I gonna try. It's actually more like 24 days, so a little more than 3 weeks. I'm gonna try really hard to at least get to 205, that's 13 lbs. I'll make that a goal and if I lose more great! Thanks!

Do you have restriction yet? I have found that a piece of beef Jerky or a handful of almonds along with a Protein Shake tide me over for a meal. On the days that I use that as a Meal Replacement I tend to see it on the scale the next day. Drink the shake first so that it passes thru your pouch, then eat the nuts/jerky about a half an hour later to give you the full feeling. I use the EAS shake which is about 210 calories and the jerky portion is about 70 calories.

I do have pretty good restriction. I will try this method at lunch. I like eating Breakfast and dinner. I am stepping up the exercise routing for the next few weeks.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
