Is vomiting really that bad???

Recommended Posts

Thats what I thought. It hasnt gone thru the band yet into my stomach.

Please do not be so casual about pbing. Productive burping is the term that many of us use. It is a myth that it is not a problem. True it is not as bad as bringing it up from the lower stomach, however, it has its own set of issues.

1. There is acid in the upper part of the stomach also and it does not to be in contact with you esophagus.

2. The esophagus can become stretched with frequent PBing as it is supposed to work to keep the food down not bring it up.

3. This can be a habit which we develop unknowingly. It allows us to eat more and can become a very subtle form of bulimia. We will overeat routinely and pb routinely. This is a problem which can lead to esophageal and stomach damage and bad breath. It can also be difficult to stop once the pattern is set.

Again please do not be casual about it. Good luck. Take care of your band, it is a wonderful tool.

Just had my first PB episode. I was so proud of myself for having gone almost 4 months without one. Last week I got my third fill which has finally given me true restriction and I feel I'm having to relearn taking small bites, chewing well, and even trying to figure out what my band can and can not tolerate now. It's a whole new experience in the last week.

I've had a few golf ball feelings in the last week so knew I needed to slow down and chew better. Think my PB this morning was due to not going with my Breakfast smoothie but trying a piece of toast instead. Never again!! I've never been one to get sick easily and it took me an hour of sliming to finally PB and feel better. Don't plan on going there again. Lesson learned!!!

Hello, everyone! I had my 3rd fill in March and Wow! I finally got what I wished for. I dont think I'm too tight or have too much restriction, but I cant help still eating at the same speed and still taking big bites. I've lost 66 lbs since October and continue to lose slowly, but steadily. Im not looking for sympathy or judgement. Here is my question:

Because I eat too fast and dont chew my food into mush or take small bites, I tend to throw up. So, is it really THAT bad to throw up and what can it do to me after a long period of time?

Hello,

My name is Ronda and I am new to this site. I was banded in Feb. Two weeks ago I had to have 2cc removed from my band due to vomiting from migrain headaches. I was told that the vomiting causes sever renching on the stomach muscles therefor inflames the stomach tissue around the band. I wasn't even able to swallow Water for 2 days.

The thing that I find to be strange is that since I have had the 2cc and had .6cc putback in, I have been more successful in losing weight. Has anyone found this to happen to them after having Fluid removed?

I also had a very difficult time eating regular food again. Being in the health care profession I am so use to having to eat fast because that is the only way you get to eat. I have gotten better but it takes a lot of effort.

Hopefully we can stay in touch and be of support to each other.

Thanks.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
