Today is my one year Bandiversary

I am down 72 pounds. I so wanted to be down 75 by today, but I am happy with the 72.

I still have a long way to go, and wish I was one of those people who could say I've lost 100 something in a year... but I will just have to work harder to get there.

Looking back on this year....

When I get down about my (in my mind) not fast enough weight loss I sometimes wish I had gone another route (bypass)..... but even while I have these thoughts, I know the band was the right choice for me.

Do I regret being banded... never!!!!

Any advice to newbies?? E-X-E-R-C-I-S-E

I do regret I did not exercise at the beginning. I had some post op complications that made me quite miserable, but I wish I had pushed myself a bit more. I lost 40+ pounds just sitting in my recliner all day/every day. I imaging how much I would have lost had I actually moved around those first few months.

I let myself lose focus for a while (3 month plateaus when you are doing everything right can do that to you)

In the last month or so I have recommited to my band (I was never too far of the reservation...just not as careful as I could have/should have been)

I am watchng what I eat... making better choices. I am also getting more moving in (I hate to call it exercise... that sounds like work :glare:)

I will get there... it is just taking a bit longer than I had hoped and planned.

Maybe if you strip naked, get a haircut, and go to the potty, you'll be at 75. :w00t: lol - jk. But I know what it's like to be just almost at goal! 72 pounds is awesome!! Congratulations!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
