Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum so be gentle

I just completed my pre-operative testing and am scheduled to start a 7 day clear liquid diet on Monday and my surgery is scheduled 7-6-2009.

When I left the pre-operative testing facility yesterday I was left in limbo due to my EKG showed a possible Antelateral Infarct. The Anesthesiologist acted like no biggie but the fact it was brought up and they want the Cardiologist to clear the EKG concerned me a little.

I then went to the Surgeon's office and they too acted like no biggie. I figured I would have to cancel the surgery date and subsequently the start of the clear liquid diet to validate the EKG. I told the surgeon's office I did not want to start the clear liquid Monday and then get cancelled.

Has anyone had the EKG show this result?

I haven't heard of this before, but wanted to say welcome! And, congratulations on your decision. I hope that everyhing goes OK with your surgery -- if your doctors aren't worried about it, I would expect that it's probably OK.

Hang in there!

Catherine

If your surgeon AND the anesthesiologist act like it's not a big deal, it probably isn't. As my Granny used to say, don't borrow trouble. Start your preop diet and get the cardiac clearance. :) Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
