We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

LaToya ran in the hospital sobbing, after Jackson was pronounced dead.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

On our first date, my husband and I went to Gemco and bought a cassette of "Thriller." A few years later, we went to an all-night party at Disneyland celebrating the opening of his 3D film "Captain EO." We waited in line 4 hours to get in. In his day, MJ was the most dynamic performer I'd ever seen. I remember how stunned we were the first time we saw him Moonwalk on TV. I'm going to remember him from that era, not the broken man he'd become.

I am truly devastated. His music highlights all my childhood memories. No matter what his quirks were, and all the controversies surrounding him, he was a truly gifted and talented individual who brought joy to millions of people's lives. RIP Michael.

I was literally stunned when I turned on my TV this afternoon and they said Michael Jackson was in the hospital from cardiac arrest. Of course, later we found out that he was basically dead when the paramedics arrived at his home. He didn't have a pulse and they never could get a pulse.

I never saw him in concert, but I wish I had. He was truly an icon. He invented the music video, his dances, the 750 million records he sold, and the list goes on and on. Even though a lot of controversy occurred in his life, I think he will be remembered fondly by his fans. I've been watching the Thriller videos today. What a great talent he was. He will be missed.

But never forgotten...

I'm an older bandster and I remember when Elvis died. He had lots of problems, but no one could argue the fact that the man had talent. We were shocked and I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news. He was to us, what Michael Jackson was to many of you younger bandsters. His music represented our childhood and all of the fun memories we had growing up and listening to his songs.

When the "Thriller" video came out, we had small kids and we bought it as soon as it hit the stores. We played it during the half time of the Super Bowl that year, during our Super Bowl party. We had a big screen TV (one of the first versions) and everybody jumped up in our great room and tried to dance the dance. That John Landis directed video is a masterpiece and it goes down in history as changing the way music was produced and videos were made. It epitomizes the standard by which we enjoy music and dancing today.

I know this thread is over two weeks old, but I have a memory I'd like to share.

When I was a teenager, I belonged to an organization for the blind in Los Angeles. Some of us had been to the White House, where we sang for Mrs. Nixon. We did a lot of wonderful things the week we were there, but the night before we were to return, the founder of the organization told us that the Jackson Five were going to come to our Christmas party. I don't know how he got them, but what a show they gave!

Afterwards they walked through the audience shaking hands with us all. Michael blew kisses, and though I didn't get to shake his hand, he gave that performance his all. My friends and I still talk about that, and it was almost 40 years ago.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
