I don't know if its normal, but I'm 2.5 weeks post-op, and I'm not hungry. What I've learned from reading this site is that there are so many different experiences, but amazingly there always seems to be someone else who has gone through the same experience. Nice to know we're not alone.

There is little that is "normal" amongst all of us bandsters. BUT there are a lot of similarities!!!! I was not hungry at all 6 days after surgery so we have that in common. It isn't anything to be concerned about- relish it. Make sure you are getting your Protein and staying hydrated. You should never have any trouble drinking. Try and put this feeling deep into your memory bank as this is the feeling you are going to want to have again once you have your fills and are restricted. As stated in previous posts you will likely lose this hungerless feeling as you heal and the swelling goes down and you lose weight- but your goal will be to get it back through fills in your band.

Actually I kind of think being hungry immediately after is what is more rare, although neither hungry or not is abnormal. As contemplating stated, "there is little that is normal amongst all of us bandsters". So true!

I've had my band for two weeks and haven't been hungry once. However, my mental desire for food is increasing.

I am a week out and can start warm foods today. I actually haven't been out of the house since I got home from surgery. It's been way hot and humid. I have to go to my piano lesson and buy some food. I am hungry, but more of a desire to chew something. I am thinking of getting a chew toy as it will be a few weeks more before I get to eat solid food. I also never feel full. Supposed to keep drinking until I feel full and, well, haven't. I have to pick up some Protein Drinks. I hate the beneprotein and I can taste it in anything. I am so looking forward to some oatmeal. Anyone else just not feel full? I don't want to damage myself and I feel great, just keep drinking up to 8 ounces at a time, not in one gulp or anything, and don't feel full.

I had mine done at the beginning of the month. For about that first week, I didn't have much hunger at all. It did come back, though I haven't noticed it as often as before. I think all this is to be expected, though, and once they start doing fills on you, it'll be adjusted so that you don't really feel hungry, but I can't speak to that part yet (first fill is a week from today).

I have yet to get in all my Protein, but it's only been a little over a week. I got the flintstones chewables too. I am chopping up my pills so I can get them in. I stay up late and have to take a nap in the middle of the day. I can get in up to about 14 ounces over about an hour. I don't really feel full, I just am trying not to overdo it. It is annoying because my Soup gets all cold before I can get it all drunk.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
