Hi - I'm Maggie and I had a Realize band done on May 18th. I had my first fill yesterday. During the fill, I got really dizzy, and the dizziness is continuing. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks so much!!!:bored:

I had it pretty bad for several weeks. It's still here, but not as bad. I talked to my doctor's office and they assured me it wasn't from my band.

Did you lose quite a bit of weight on the pre-op surgery? I personally think the rapid weight loss for me was a huge part of it.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you so much for your reply! I did go to the doctor, and he had xrays and blood work done. He said it doesn't have anything to do with the band. I guess I'll wait a day or two and see if it gets better. Thanks again! It helps ease the fear to know I'm not the only one!

I hope you are able to find the cause of the dizziness.

Your Dr. probably checked this already, but has your blood pressure dropped? Mine dropped fairly quickly between the pre-op diet and surgery, shortly before surgery I started getting dizzy and realized my blood pressure medication was making the bp drop too low.

Let us know how it works out for you

Are you on blood pressure medicine, like I was, and many overweight people are? After surgery my blood pressure went down even faster than my weight so I had dizziness issues until he adjusted my dosages down, and eventually eliminated the meds totally.

I am on bp meds too. Maybe that's the problem!

It might be worth talking with your family doctor then. I was about 30-40 down when it started for me. I was on Verapamil, and a combo of Hydrocloriside(sp)/Linsopril. On my first visit, he cut the verapamil in half, next one in half again, and then elminiated it, then cut the other in half and told me when it ran out to keep an eye on it. (I have a home BP machine which I verified was close to the same readings he was getting.) I think its been almost a month with no BP meds and all is well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
