Where do i start.

its is 3 in the morning. i am up,( hungry) arthritis pain is back, swelling, and i have to take my pills to get rid of the arthritis. yaaaaaa!!!

banded on June 20th and not happy. i feel i could eat a horse right now. pretty sure the horse will slip through my band too.lol.. my wife tells me to let my stomach heal in place and not to eat all different kinds of food and stay to liquids for 2 weeks. its tough to do i was on a pretty stick diet before surgery to loose weight before it (39 pounds) so far, but now i feel like i can cheat and eat solid food. i feel stupid for cheating. the band is a tool alright!!!:bored:

Anyways, my question for today is this i have always over ate. portion size has always been bad for me and now i have this band i feel i might slip back to bad portion size habits.

i am not feeling any restriction like my wife did after her band got in place. thats why she is hard on me and telling me to stay on liquids.

trying to stay on track but it worries me that portion size might win. i have to figure out when i am full and not Bord or something. don't want to stretch my band.

later everyone pills are kicking in and might be able to go back to sleep:sleep:

You're going to need to measure all your food to make sure you keep your portions in control. When I was right at the stage you're at, I seriously overate on Chinese Soup. I hope I didn't do any damage since it was a liquid, but that was also the day I realized I must measure and weigh everything.

It's not much fun trying to master a new lifestyle. I feel your pain.

When the band is placed it is "Deflated"

I have just had my 4th fill and finally have decent restriction.

You will hear people refer to "Bandster Hell" that is the period of time between getting the band and getting good restriction from the band.

Weigh and measure your food, Watch the calorie intake, and it will get easier.

Hey Too Phat!! (I had to change it! :smile2:)

I am TOTALLY with you!! This is definitely harder then I thought!! I thought that 2 weeks of liquids and 1 week mushies/pureed and 1 week of soft would be easy! It's less than a month--no prob! HA!!! I don't even think I made a week of liquids! I haven't really eaten too much of non-approved food (or so I think), But I haven't been exercising like I thought I would and I haven't lost a pound!! I figured I'm not eating much I should be able to lose weight, right?? I know I need to walk--I have a lot of excuses! (by the way excuses are like butts--we all have one (some are just less than others!)).

OK I'm done venting. Thanks for Playin'!

Also, some surgeons leave a certain amount of fill in at the time of surgery. So some people do have more restriction right from the get-go. I'm almost four weeks pre-op. don't really have hunger but definitely can eat just about anything. I do take it slow but it's clearly not the 1/2 cup of food anymore that does it. My first fill is July 7. Can't wait for that because, along with you, afraid old eating habits of grazing will return.

Hang in there. It did help when I could add solid food but with no restriction I have to be very careful.

Hang in there. I am only a few days post-op, but from what I've read and researched, the other posters are right, and you have to get to the spot where you are feeling restriction. I thought a few times today I had had too much liquids... so I also am going to be sure to measure my Protein Shakes and liquids tomorrow. I don't want to do anything to mess it up!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
