Good Bye....

I have decided my time on this board is up. I know I only had short stay.

I have decided to have a full gastric bypass instead of the lap band.

I will still be going to dr bauman. I hope everyone's surgery goes well.

Wow Jennifer! I wish you the best for your surgery. Dr Bauman has been doing this for a long time so I know you will be in good hands. Please don't feel like you have to leave just because you choose GP. You need to go where the support is right for you, but noone is kicking you out! :) Please at least check back in and let us know how you are doing, okay? (((((hugs))))) and best wishes!!!!

Like the others, I say...don't become a stranger....stop in and visit sometimes just to let us know how you are doing. Maybe I'll see you at some of Dr. Bauman's meetings. (I wish they weren't always tuesdays) Best wishes on your decision to have the rny. Dr. Bauman actually does his a bit different it seems (he thought I was rny at first when I saw him and was explaining this). After talking to him I have no doubt you will be in good hands.

Everything happens for a reason.

I'm a firm believer in this, and liek the otherssaid, do come back and visit, just because you had the bypass does not mean you are not welcome here. We all battle the same demon and support with this demon , no matter where you get it from is still support. I wish you the best :)

Sunsette and Everyone Else,

Thanks for being so nice. I have decied that RNY would be better for me because i do not want to have all the post op maintence that Lap Band requires. I want to do the surgrey and be done with it. THe selling point is that two coworkers had RNY and they are fabulous. I want to lose the most weight as soon as I can. I have hypertension and sever back pains, so this will help sooner rather than later.

I know dr bauman is very qualified. At first lap band appealed to me because of the quick surgery times and faster recovery, but i Decided that I want to take longer time do the RNY and not have to continously follow up and get barium swallows.

So, this has been a difficult decision for me to make. I'm so excited about my appointment next month and to get my date scheduled. I haven't told any of my family except my husband and close friend. None of my family know's. I just hope I can keep this to myself. THey are so critical, but they live out of state so I don't see them on a regular basis.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Hey Jennifer, I wish you the best of luck in your choice. WLS is so life changing in it self so please just make sure that this is what YOU want. I have a friend that had the RNY Feb 22 she has lost 100 pounds in 6 months which is great. But you know what I have lost almost 50 in 3 months so if look the weight loss is about the same. If you follow the eating guidelines the band works just as well as the RNY.

I really wish you the best of luck in whatever your choice is. Please check back in and let us know how you are doing.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
