Hi everyone. I'm glad I found this site. I was banded on 6/3/09 by DR. Craig Floch of Fairfield County Bariatrics in Norwalk, CT. It's been very hard to find people to talk to about banding. I'm open for any advise or comments. Things have been going very well the last three weeks except for today. My port area is starting to hurt. It feels like the port moves around and is not stationary. I went back to work today and all I do for 8 hours is sit at a computer. Sitting sometimes bothers the incision areas. Hope to get to meet some of you. Thanks for reading :blushing:

Congrats and it seems like you are doing well!

Are there any local support groups in your area?

This forum is great, but my surgeon is really encouraging us to meet face-to-face with other local bandsters for moral support.

They meet once a month. Unfortunately, I'll be on vacation the next week they meet, so I won't get to know any of them until the August meeting.

On the other hand, I have two friends and two family members who have been banded already, so they sort of make up my informal support circle! Or they will after I'm banded on Weds!

There's one in the area I live but only the patients of a specific surgeon can attend. The surgeon I had do by banding is an hour away. They meet weekly and encourage face to face groups. It's a long ride everyweek and I was hopeing to get some help here if possilbe.

Welcome to the group and glad that you are doing well. Iam in East Haven and would be glad to e-mail and chat with you about the band. SOunds like your clothes could be causing problems with your port. I had that problem for about a week. I had a slight infection and got it taken care of right away. Just ask away, we are all here to help. If you go to the CT under the states there is a very large group of people willing to help as well.

Chris

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
