loreli115 0 Posted June 23, 2009 Hi everyone! I have decided to to lap band after 6 to 8 years of contemplating it. I go for a seminar on the 7th with my surgeon, to get to know him and to get more information on the surgery. I am really interested in knowing what kind of diet I will be on once I am able to eat solid foods after surgery. Now I'm off to browse the forum for more info! ~Lori :blushing:
TopTier 0 Posted June 23, 2009 Lori! What a beautiful name. My doctor is keen on stressing that after the band to not think in terms of "diet." Simply remember a few key "band rules," and think in terms of adjusting to a "new normal." We can still eat the same things our families eat, just much smaller portions. As long as I remember to not drink while eating, and to take small bites and chew, I'm going to focus more on eating a nutritionally balanced meal, just a small portioned one! plain 12 Posted June 23, 2009 We can still eat the same things our families eat, just much smaller portions Well, kinda. Different bandsters tolerate different foods. I can eat almost anything (bread gives me problems), but I know people that can't eat (and this isn't one person, lol....I'm just thinking of different foods I've heard that give some people problems) asparagus, broccoli, raisins, Pasta, chicken, beef, etc. I'm going to focus more on eating a nutritionally balanced meal, just a small portioned one! Now you're talking!! Some people haven't realized that it is not reasonable to eat crap foods and expect to lose weight. Sounds like you are on the right track. And exercise will really help take the pounds off.
loreli115 0 Posted June 24, 2009 Thank you both for the info! I try to eat balaced meals already (sometimes it is unavoidable to eat bad). I'm so glad to hear that I can still eat "normal" but just a new normal. I am so excited to get on this band wagon.....no pun intended....and get to losing weight!
