lindac80 0 Posted June 22, 2009 I am in the process of being aproved for surgery, i am a little confused because my max upt of pocket is $4000 with $750 deductible, however the doctors office tells me i just need to pay my deductible before surgery but then they changed it and told me i need to pay $2000, but the insurance tells me i only pay deductable and i have to wait to be billed after surgery, any advice? RestlessMonkey 7 Posted June 22, 2009 Did your doc's office say WHY they wanted 2k instead of $750?

RestlessMonkey 7 Posted June 22, 2009 If it were me, I'd call the person at my doc's office who does billing and say "My insurance company has directed me to pay only my deductible, which is the same as what your office originally told me to do. So I'm just going to pay that and then I'll pay the balance once it's billed and insurance has settled. I know that will be over a thousand, and I plan to give you a credit card (or whatever you plan to do)" As long as the issue isn't that you CANT pay it but just don't want to pay it too soon, I think that would do the trick! :blushing:

RestlessMonkey 7 Posted June 22, 2009 im going to take a loan out on my 401K. I look at as im paying myself interest plus putting it back with every paycheck. I agree. I had planned to self-pay and found out literally a week before the seminar that ins would cover it (I had to switch surgeons, in fact. Thank God. I love my doc!) Anyway I decided I was worth the price of a Kia. (shoot, I'm worth a Lexus but the surgery wasn't THAT much!) That's honestly how I looked at it. LOL
OnTheWay to Thin 0 Posted June 22, 2009 If the doctor is a participating or preferred doctor with your insurance they should not be asking for anything other than your deductible. That is part of their contract with the insurance company. So check that out first, to make sure if there is a contract, then go back and try and find out why, I have heard of a couple of doctors who did not like the amount their insurance contract paid so they tried to collect extra on the side from the paitient. That is not cool as they promised not to do that in their contract.
