Does someone have an iced tea recipe?

Recommended Posts

Walmart actually has a Mr. coffee iced tea maker on sale right now. I've been in a few Walmarts and have seen it being displayed out in the middle of the aisles.

I like to use that tea maker, because I can select whatever flavours I want. I use two big Luzianne tea bags, and then two small flavoured tea bags. I have a HUGE assortment of teas in my pantry. I should take a picture and show you. I have a whole basket full and then stacks of boxes.

This way I can make cranberry, mint, peach, raspberry, etc etc etc. Anything you can think of that you can find in any store. If you like your tea a little sweetened you can add a bit of Splenda to it.

As a side note--I was a "drink with my meal" cheater. But I only drank iced tea. And then I found out that if you drink tea with your meal, it blocks Iron absorption, which can lead to anaemia. So that was the final stake in my drinking while eating cheat :rolleyes2: Just wanted to pass that along to any of you other closet cheaters.

Good luck making some awesome teas.

You can take any tea (or coffee) after it is cooled down completely, put a small amount sweetened Creamer of your choice (I use sugar free hazelnut), fill a glass with tea and the creamer, ice cubes, it's great.

TO flavor your basic Southern-style sweet tee, you have only to add thin slices of the flavor that you seek -- kind of like you would to sangria. I have put thin slices of peaches in my tea when I brew it and remove the slices when I'm ready to serve.

To keep your tea from becoming cloudy (and usually bitter) DON'T refrigerate it. That means you need to brew less at one time, but you don't have to pour it out either.

I was raised in a house where once Breakfast was made and the dishes cleared away, you brewed your tea for the day! That way, there was fresh tea for lunch and supper. I grew up using loose tea in a metal tea ball. Later, started using famiy-size tea bags. I like Luzianne tea brewed strong (2-3 teabags to 3 quarts of water). Sweeten when it's hot. After all these years out on my own, I still do exactly that. And nowadays, I have a cup of hot tea in the morning and my granddaughter (who lives with me) drinks the tea iced for the rest of the day.

I have also frozen slices of lemon and lime and orange in ice cubes that we use for tea when we have family cookouts and such.

I love my ginger tea. I use 2 scoops from 4c green tea light with lemon and honey (www.4c.com), add 8oz fresh ginger juice (put ginger root in juicer) and 5-6 squeezed lemons. Mix it all up. It's sooo delish!!! :smile2:

My sister-in-law just taught me this. place 3 lipton family size iced decaff tea bags in the basket of your coffee maker and brew just like you would a pot of coffee. when though pour a gallon of cold Water into a 2 gal. pitcher and then the tea (this stops the tea from foming). refrigerate or add ice. you can also add sweetners and flavors if disired

In the afternoon at work I brew Camomille Tea in my regular tea cup--let it steep for several minutes. Then I add cold Water and ice. Sometimes I add honey or sweetener. This is really refreshing and relaxing.

Since giving up my Diet Pepsi I started drinking ALOT more iced tea and this is my favorite!!! Also, since it's nice out I'll stick 2 or 3 tea bags into a pitcher, fill it with Water and let it sit outside in the sun for a couple of hours before refrigerating.

I am a teaholic I make tea at my work all the time....

Using one decafe tea bag fill a 32 ounce cup with one cup of hot Water, let tea bag sit in there for a minute while you add a packet of splenda.

Add ice till the cup is full of ice and enjoy...the ice will melt in the hot Water making yummy ice tea....add a lemon wedge if you want. :crying:

Just wanted to add.. if you put a spoon in your glass with your ice when you pour hot tea over it, it will keep the glass from breaking. I haven't tried Stevia sweetener yet, is that the new one in the green? Or is that Truvia? There are so many now... Splenda is my favorite so far though.

Though I love it, and used to make it, I no longer make it. There have recently been warnings issued about bacteria growth in sun tea (the temp in the sun is just right to grow bugs)---and I have to say I experienced this first-hand.

So, now it's a big jug of cold Water and cold-brew teabags in the fridge. Same concept, but safer.

I am an UNsweet girl, so that's all there is to it. Toss the bags after steeping, and add a squeeze of lemon. But my sweet tea husband uses Splenda. (Stevia--at least Truvia brand--caused me some weird neuro symptoms, so I haven't stuck with that.)

I drink tea all the time, I like a whole bunch of different flavors. I really like the red tea made out of Rooibos, it tastes good and is naturally caffeine free so I can drink it right before bed. You can also go to Peets coffee shops, they have a whole bunch of loose tea you can smell and decide what you might like.

I can't stand sweetened tea, I only like it straight up or maybe a touch of lemon in some flavors, so I can't help with sweet tea.

The recipies so far are great. can't wait for it to warm up a bit so I can try some of them.

As to Rooibos , I can't stand the stuff. Even the smell puts me off.I used to hate it when I lived in South Africa and someone would offer me tea and make me a cup of Rooibos.Yuk!

I drink tons of iced tea. I got one of those Mr. coffee Iced Tea makers and it has been used more than any other small appliance in the house. I only like a hint of fruit so I usually use a few bags of regular plus 1 bag of peach black tea (or you could use whatever flavor you want). Play with the tastes and strengths. I don't even use sugar or sweetener in my tea.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
