Hi I am just starting my WLS journey. I am 23 years old and have a BMI of 55.7... I am dealing with all the insurance stuff right now. It is so stressful, but I know it will work out. I hope to get to know all of you better..

hello back!

I think I started around the same BMI as you, though 2 years older, hahaha. It's not an easy journey, but I think it's worth it. 3 weeks ago, I weighed 30lbs more...its all just unbelievable. Unfortunately, I have crappy student insurance, so I bypassed all the stuff you are about to go through and funded it myself. Best of luck!:tongue2:

Hey! I started at a BMI of 74 at the age of 30 this past Apr. I am due to have surgery on Aug 20. I am now at a BMI of 63 and have lost 70lbs in the last 3 months. Congrats on your decision to have the surgery! Best of luck!

Hello!! I am glad you have decided to get a band. I know how hard it can be going thru all the insurance stuff but it is worth it. I was banded on June 29th and just had my first fill, I can't wait for my next fill so I can get to me "sweet spot" :tongue2:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
