Second port revision, but it is ok :)

Recommended Posts

I had my lap band surgery June 16, 2008, had a port revision done November 19, 2008 and had my low profile port put in instead.

And here we are now a year later from my orginal surgery and I having my low profile port removed from the right side of my body and a new one put in the left side. Why you ask?

Beats me, it isn't flipped, isn't leaking...but causes me pain again, now mind you I have had two ports put in on the right side and a tumor removed very very close by at that site as well, so the thought is too much going on over there perhaps and too much scarring?

So, July 20, 2009 I go in to have the two surgeries done, I am comfortable with this as my band is a life saving measure to me as far as I am concerned. I love my surgeon and the staff at the hospital are fantastic, I am always in good hands

Hi There, I just had my first port revision done yesterday! I also had a tumor on my left side removed. My Doc said it was a left over from my hysterectomy. My Port detached itself from the tubing which is weird by itself. My port is right above my belly button! I wish you well. You have done really great with your weight loss! Never think is it slow, all weight loss is Great weight loss!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
