I am 4 days post-op and i am having trouble with eating. Everything is going down fine but not comfortably. i constantly feel like i have to burp and, while i never properly do, i feel the gas leave my stomach and the radiate across both of my shoulders, in the front, chest area. should i be worried or is this regular gas pain?

I'm feeling the same thing. I think it is just being so full of gas. I wish I could burp. I get a really tight feeling in my chest until it passes....I feel like I could explode right now!

I havent been feeling chest tightness but I just drank about 1/2 of a cup of clear broth. I thought I was sipping pretty slow and now I have sort of an uneasy feeling all round my midsection - tummy, back, chest, shoulders, and I have a little headache. Is this what it feels like when you're full with the band?? I am supposed to start on thin-full liquids tomorrow. But now I am scared. I am only 3 days post op. Since it was only clear broth, I didnt injure anything, did I?

Im 4 days post-op and having all kinds of trouble. My Dr says I have a great deal of internal swelling because of a large liver and spleen. The external brusing is really bad too .They released me from the hospital this morning after 4 days. I"m begining to think it was a mistake. I have lots of gas , which I can use gas x for, but then I have a constant gurgling in the back of my through that keeps me fromk sleeping. It gets so bad I feel the liquid will come up my nose, it actually caused me to throw up this morning. It was all flem. Doc says all will be better when the swelling subsides...not sure how long this will take. Has anyone else experienced this?

As I recall, the tightness in my chest lasted about 10 days. Remember, the surgeon pumped your chest cavity full of gas and moved around your insides in order to place the band. It does take some time for everything to get back to normal. Keep walking to ease the gas pains and give it a little more time for the stomach swelling to go down. Be prepared though, once the swelling subsides the hunger will come on strong.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
