Mac: Sleeping: I had a harder time sleeping on that side for the first month. Occasionally I may feel tender there but it will pass. I have to say though, I would take my pain meds before bed for the first two weeks - and that helped.

Thanks for all of the replies! There are some threads on here that SERIOUSLY bash Realize band. I know I'm only 4 days post-op but Ive had no trouble with it so far, and very minimal pain (Ive only had to take pain medication before bed, and I'm thinking I'll be able to stop doing that within the next couple of days). There are a few folks in particular that really are rude and harsh about the Realize band. At first read, it kind of made me depressed and I was thinking, "Did I make a wrong choice?" But when someone is that stubborn and appears to have such a strong inclination or bias towards one thing vs. another thing, I have to wonder about their motivations. Anyways, glad to hear many people are feeling good with their Realize bands!

As for sleeping: I am also not a back sleeper. I have been rotating between sleeping on my back and my right side (I can't sleep on the left because it is close to my port incision, and I definitely won't try sleeping on my stomach yet).

I think I will stay away from that thread then!

:blushing:

I truly believe that things like this are similar to the computer fanatics who either love or hate a PC or MAC (I think I even mentioned this is another thread).

People become very loyal to their choices!

It's such a personal preference, though, I can't imagine that there's a real, objective difference in them. Not enough to justify the dogma on either side (that goes for both computers AND lap bands! )

I was banded June 1 with the Realize-C. I didn't have a choice unless of course I wanted to self-pay..NOT. My surgeon said they switched to the Realize because of blah, blah, blah. I'm pretty sure the hospital just got a better deal from them than Allergan. That was kind of confirmed when I went with my daughter to her doctor's appt to get refilled after having plastic surgery. Her surgeon does both, mainly Lap-Band but she said usually when a facility changes completely to a different brand it's because of financial reasons. But in the end, they both do the same thing (at least hopefully they do...lol). I go for my first fill on July 7, but I have a feeling my surgeon will be extremely conservative and not do more than 1 or 2 ccs.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
