Hello everyone. Well today I had a slight unfill (.3cc's) My last fill was Dec 2nd and in April I began experiencing some discomfort in my sternum area. I called the Dr and they told me what to do and I did it. I felt better but last week eating became increasingly difficult and painful. I went to the Dr and did an xray under flurofill (sp) and found the barium went down as it was supposed to and nothing was wrong with my band, so they told me. They believe it's an issue with my food. I may not be chewing it good enough and will become more aware of my chewing. I am hoping and praying this unfill will not interfere with the amount of restriction too much. Has anyone else had to do this? If so, what was the reason?

Sorry this is happening to you ! Just keep following the rules of the band, chewing, chewing, and more chewing. See if that helps if it doesnt I would get right back in there and have them find you an answer. Good luck to you!

You'll be okay. I had to have an unfill where they took all the Fluid out of my band, which really stunk. But just keep following those "lap band rules" and you will be fine. If there are any problems, call your doc. Good luck. Pam

I just got unfilled today for the 2nd time in a week because i was TOO filled to the point that I couldn't even swallow my own saliva and was throwing up or PB'ing I guess all night, I lost 6 lbs in 5 days it was so bad, the weightloss part was great but I was uncomfortable all week, I feel better today and am just going to take my fills slow from now on, .2cc at the most....I was at 5 & then got filled .8, now am back down to 5cc's, where I can still eat more that I probably should, but will keep to the rules my dr & nutritionist gave me, pinky nail size bites, chew chew chew, take 20 to no more than 30 minutes to eat, put my fork down in between and wait an hour to drink...those are some of the things I do to keep myself in checj, as well as using www.Calorieking.com,,,,,good luck!!!!

I have been so uncomfortable for the longest time - banded March 2008 - down 153lbs from 333lbs - thats great, but, sincerely, I've lost too much and look awful and I can't eat anything without going into an uncomfort state for the longest period of time afterwards - I will now only eat soft foods - I just had 2cc removed and I'm still tight - I don't want to lose anymore - has anyone heard of a complete unfill? Am I nuts to think this - NEver thought I'd say this, but, I'm don't want to lose anymore way - ugh! here is a visual - I'm a 6'4" man, now a 32" waist and 180 some pounds! 54 years old - my high school wieght 175lb 34 inch -

You can definitely have a complete unfill. People do it all the time for various reasons. You sound like you are still too tight, and that isn't a good way to stay. Get the unfill, let the swelling in your stomach subside, and then evaluate where you are with your band. If you feel you can eat too much and are gaining, you can always get a small fill.

Thank y C. - I made an appointment for this am - hoping my doc will do a complete unfill! Awful night of discomfort, acid reflux and well, said to myself - assert yourself with the doctor and tell him what it is I want/need!

:w00t: I just had a De-fill...I feel almost 100% better today! What a relief! I have to give it about 2-4wks for swelling to go down and everything to heal up...so I will be on a combo prepost op diet of soft LFLC and mushy type foods. This is going to be my 2nd try for the band, hadn't worked the first time, but I'm giving it another chance.

Course they don't know if the band slipped, but I don't think so? even though my throwing up was unreal and ALL the time..(as someone pointed out in here, I couldn't even swallow my own saliva!) However it wasn't to do with not chewing or any of the 'normal' band issues, it was other stuff, so I shall see what happens now.

IMO, I wouldn't worry too much about a small de-fill, just remember to watch food intake (amount) at least that is what I find I have to watch...and IF I can consume more than 12 to 1 cup of Protein or more than 1 cup of mixed foods..then I find I have a problem. But that's just ME. It can be different for everyone...

Hang in there, and I hope it works out for you, good to hear the band hadn't slipped, still waiting on swelling in me to go down until I know for sure.

Good Luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
