Hi everyone,

I am new to this site and I thank God it is here. I was banded on 5-29-09. and it has been a roller coaster ride.

My first 2 weeks I lost 18 pounds and was very excited! Then the third week I have gained 4 pounds back and I am scared to death that I have done something wrong. I have to admit that I am having a hard time making myself stop eating when I feel "satisfied". I am working on it but it is the hardest thing I have ever done.

Also, the last couple of days I have had a lot of indigestion and not sure why.

Another thing since my surgery I can not burp? What is up with that?

Any words of encouragement would be helpful.

Thanks:wink2:

This time after the surgery is often called bandster hell by lapband patients. It is the time after your post-op surgery restrictions and before your first fill . It’s a time when you have to rely on changing your habits, lifestyle and diet alone to lose weight. Not everyone loses weight during this time, some people gain. Relax though and get adjusted to your new life, dont worry to much about the weight till you get a fill. As far as the burping and heartburn call your doc just to make sure nothing is wrong. You could try gas x strips and see if they work! Good luck!

Definitely telly our doctor about the burping issue. I took the Gas X pills because the strips did not work for me and tums. That worked wonders. good luck on your journey.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
