Oh, the noises coming out of me these days... (possibly TMI haha)

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 weeks post op and moving onto some regular foods. I'm eating healthy, exercising every day, and my calories are reasonable (I haven't had a fill yet).

But geez.... my body wants to make so much noise!!

My rumbling stomach - even when I'm not at all hungry, I feel like it's making SO much noise that surely other people can hear it! hahah I'm glad I have my own office at work. Anyone else?

And as for other bodily noises, well, they're coming out both ends! I didn't have issues with indigestion or gas or anything before. And I don't FEEL like I have those things going on inside of me even now. I mean, I have no desire to run for Tums or anything.

Yet, I burp. A lot - way more than I ever have in my life. They're different, shallow, sneaky.

I don't even want to talk about the other. LOL

Anyone else? Is this just adjustment or is this how it will be going forward? I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, just trying to figure out if anyone else whent through this and came out the other side with a quieter body.

I think this phase passes, Linda, as you and your body get adjusted to things. Your system has changed shape and air is finding new pathways. You'll learn to minimize the effects through the ways you eat and drink. (I don't know what you can do about the flatulence, though!)

That one is the least of it.

It's mostly the noisy stomach and the air coming UP. LOL I feel like a drunk, hungry sailor.

Let me tell ya, Linda. I have all of the above (or below as the case might be :sneaky:). It is embarrassing. And I no longer have a private office since we moved to the "fancy, new building" which is a cube farm. So you can imagine how embarrassed I feel when something slips out (usually a burp), but sometimes I have to hurry to the ladies' room because I feel a lot of gas on its way down, down, down.... And then it's embarrassing if there are a bunch of coworkers in the bathroom, too! I've been taking chewable gas tablets the last week or two, and that has been helping. The recommended two tablets don't work for me, though. I have to take three! LOL

Hang in there. I've heard it gets better. There is a woman in my LB support group who complained about the same thing going on for the first three months. Then it disappeared. There is an end in sight.

And there is an upside to this: At least I make my 4-year-old son laugh a lot more now.:crying:

This is embarrassing LOL!!!!! I usually take my ciggarette breaks (I know bad sarah) and find a tucked away place outside and fart MY HEART OUT!!!!!!! sometimes gas pills just don't work... I hate using the bathroom at my job because It's right next to the bosses cubical, and I don't know exactly what they can hear (even with the noisey exhaust fan) So Thats why I'll hold it until I go smoke. As for the stomach rumbles, sometimes they are SO BAD that it sounds like I'm passing gas at my desk.

I'm having the same issue. Mine is the gas and it hurts so it HAS to go out. I feel like a noise machine. It's horrible and so un-ladylike but what can we do? I'm just hoping it will pass. It does seem to get a little better everyday.

Good Luck and let the kids laugh while they can! My girls sure do. (And at least it's just air - no stinky for me anyway! - That's my one saving grace with my husband.!) lol

Lol... me too..... Mine thought a garbage truck went by last night (we live on a busy avenue) shot up out of a dead sleep and asked what the hell that was.... when I confessed it was me, he told me to check my pants, and if it smells, then I am to sleep on the couch for the night.:sad:

Burping, gurgling, and tooting right along with you ladies! My two young boys and my husband are all getting a lot of laughs out of the whole situation! I, too, work in a 'cubicle farm' and have become the loudest, non-verbal 'animal' in the herd! I rustle my papers a lot and make as much office noise as possible to obliterate my body's crude sounds

I'm so glad to hear there may be an end in sight...

Not to be a doomsday-er, but I have been told by a few bandsters who had their procedures 1 and 2 years ago that the gas is an ongoing problem.

It's not just releasing the gas from the surgery.

It is a common lasting digestive thing, so buy stock in Gas X extra strength!

I know that V8 juice sets me off big time for a whole day and a half. Can't leave the house.

Overly large amounts of Protein additives will do it for me too. .

I make sure I take activia no fat every day as well as benefiber with cream of wheat or oatmeal for Breakfast every day to avoid a back-up problem which in turn will cause more gas..

Sarabellzz...as long as the neighbors don;t call 911 I guess it;s ok. LOL

REM sleep is peaceful for us, but ...as for the neighbors...who knows? LOL

LMFAO! The "F" stands for farting. I have been plagued by these really long burps. I will open my mouth to speak and this "thunder belch" just rumbles on up out of nowhere. My stomach has also been very vocal since being banded (6/8/09). My dog was sitting on my lap the other day when my stomach started gurgling. She started pawing at my belly and cocking her head to the side. As far as the "bottom burps" go, I tend to wander off to a secluded place a lot more often then I used to do to take care of business.

O.k..This is how bored & immature me and the DH were the other night..... We set them on fire.... Which requires holding a lighter to the farters behind to see how far the flame can go ROFLMAO...... I must say, I might have a new profession in a side show somewhere... His response to that was, See babe, THEY ARE TERRIFYING!!!! WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO YOU???! WOMEN DON'T fart, OR DO #2- YOU'VE RUINED THAT ILLUSION FOR ME!!!! to which I replied, your lucky it's just gas, and I'm not wearing adult diapers, He said sometimes I wonder if you should be.

I can't believe you did that.

Please tell me you didn't! Please?!

Oh, Singin', I confess, We very much did. And it was not my idea. And he almost set my pants on fire with it. I sometimes wonder if I'm married to an 8 year old... it was almost his way of proving the point he's really grossed out by it, And it's really unladylike, and if I'm gonna sit there and fart like a dude, then he's gonna goof around with me like a dude. Even though I've thoroughly explained to him I can't help it and have even showed him some of the boards on people with the same problem, he's just horrified by it.

Okay, this is the first time I've had a really good laugh on this board. Sarah, you truly have guts along with farts. I will never let my husband try and set my pants on fire and when it comes to competing with him.....I'm not sure I can. We'll find out after I get banded.

Too funny.

Oh, and I'm sorry to laugh at your discomfort fellow banders, but "potty" humor is one thing that does make me laugh until I cry. I know it's unseemly, but I can't help it.

I wish you all internal air-free futures.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
