marquia 0 Posted June 18, 2009 :blushing: I just want to say congratulations to all of us to chose to do something different to better ourselves. The actions, reap the same results. And, now, there is no excuse. We are going to make this lapband work for us. My name is Marquia, I'm a 30 year old black female, and I am a new mother of two (Zaire 3, and Lyric 2). I have genetics against me because of racial statistics and my family history. I want to loose weight. I started this journey just a few short months ago by going to the informational seminar. Obviously, I made the 1st step of signing up for the surgery. My starting weight was 354 in April. As of today, June 17th, 2009, I am weighing about 339 pounds today. I just stepped on the scale. LOL. I've been trying to make better decisions with my meals so that I can be mentally prepared for the lapband. I estimate my surgery to be around the first of September. I can't wait. :w00t:
LapGyrl 11 Posted June 18, 2009 Hey Marquia! I have the same genetic factors working against me as well. Thankfully I don't have any health issues (that I know of) that are associated with obesity. My entire fam has high blood pressure. How ironic that I am the biggest person but I don't have it...yet! I want to get my weight down to a healthy BMI before any issues arise. I will probably be banded by the end of this year or beginning of next year depending on if I need to do the 6-month medically supervised diet. Good luck! PSJ71 0 Posted June 18, 2009 Marquia, Congratulations on your weight loss thus far. You have definitely made the best decision of your life. I haven't been banded yet, but I feel liberated in knowing I will finally be in control of something that seemed so hopeless for me. Bless you and good luck!
