I am a bit over 3 weeks post op and I made a strange discovery today. One of my internal stitches is sticking out of my port incision about 1/8 of an inch. It appears that my incision is actually healing around it.

I had not noticed this prior to today because I had scabbing and lots of skin glue. Now that most of the scabbing is gone and all of the skin glue has peeled off I realized it.

I am calling the surgeons office in the morning to make them aware. Anyone have any thoughts as to what they will do about it or how big of a deal this is?

I had the ends of two different stitched hanging out (5 incisions)

I waited about till about three weeks out and plucked them pretty easily with tweezers

my only advice is for you to get a hold of your surgeon. You don't want to risk having an infection. I hope everything is okay, keep us posted.

~DDDooonnnn'tttt PULL the StTTriinggg!. I did and it got infected; I am treating it to Hydrogen Peroxide 10 minutes /3X a day, this seems to be drying it up and healing it. I would call your doctor.

I had the same thing and at my first fill the PA said I could clip them with fingernail clippers. I would still call your Dr. though to see what they would like to do.

I had them and when all the scabs finally fell off (it took about 6 weeks) the stitches were attached to the scab so they fell off by themselves.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
