Not losing and desperate!!!! Help!

Recommended Posts

Ok, I was banded 5/19/09. I started off at 254 and I am down to 248. I am going to have my first fill in 2 weeks, on the 29th of June. I have lost a total of 6lbs! I was eating 800 calories, but a friend said that I wasn't eating enough. I am now eating anywhere between 1000 and 1200 calories. I also workout at the gym 5 days a week. I am living on what little will power I have, and the hope and prayer that things will change once I have my first fill. Someone...anyone please help!!!!!!:wink2:

First off, don't listen to your friend, do what your doctor tells you. You are going to get a lot of diet advice from people around you but always check with your surgeon. If he/she did not give you guidelines on calorie intake during this stage, ask them to. Even if it is another bandster giving you advice, always check with your doctor first.

Second, you are not in weight loss phase yet. Until you start getting fills you are not expected to lose weight and as a matter of fact, many people gain 5-10 pounds during this stage. So pat yourself on the back for actually losing 6...you are doing great!

We all had to live on willpower alone during this stage, that is why we call it Bandster Hell. It will pass but it may be progressional, one fill may help-the second fill even better. On average it takes up to four fills to really feel the affects of having the band.

Jodi gave good advise...check with your surgeon and we are all different, as so we all lose at different rates. Don't get discouraged...the weight will come off. Good luck and let us know how you're doing...we're here for you. Joanie :wink2:)

This is where the term Bandster Hell comes in affect. The period between surgery and first fill. Like it was said before some people even gain weight, so good for you for going in th eopposite direction. keep your head up and keep doing what your doing! good luck!

I have a similar story. I did lose a bunch quickly BEFORE the surgery, but only a few pounds since then. I am exercising every day - at least 30 minutes but often 60 minutes a day. I am tracking my food and I know my calories are way less than what my output is.

But I'm sure that my body is just pausing to recover from the surgery. I'm doing good things, the right things, and I will eventually be rewarded for it. I won't give up just because the scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks.

I keep telling myself "this is a marathon, not a sprint".

Hang in there!! You're not alone. Keep doing the right things - don't lose faith.

Im with you Lots of dimples. Right now I am trying really hard not to gain. I'm hungry and have no restriction. I have been great about exercise and am trying really hard to stay at about 1000 calories a day. Its a struggle and if I was good at this I would not have chosen to do WLS. So I am taking it one day at a time right now. Praying it doesn't take me 6 months to get to my sweet spot lol.

OMG...........I'm so grateful of your response.......i was thinking the same thing. You made me feel so much better. I was banded on 6/22/09 and refuse to get on the scale but my clothes are very loose now and so many folks have told me that my face has gotten smaller. Also i'm having the problem with eating enough calories. I have an appt on 7/31/09 and will ask lots of questions while i'm there.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
