I had my first fill on June 8th. I went out to dinner last night and had my first experience of being stuck. I thought I was going to die. It passed w/in 5 minutes, I was lucky, but I never want to feel like that again. This just goes to reinforce what every person here and every Dr. has said....small bites and chew, chew, chew. I thought I did that, but obviously not enough. Lesson learned!

Chew things you don't think really need to be chewed too! I keep forgetting I have "first bite syndrome" in the mornings and I go to eat a piece of egg or a spoonful of Cereal or a piece of muffin and it sticks if I don't chew that stuff. Highly annoying first thing in the morning!

Hello.

I have had food hang about 4 x, it makes me slime and I have throwed up once, like you said not a good feeling but it makes you learn fast, most always its lettuce.

I have 1 of those hand choppers and use it every time I eat lettuce now, seems to work pretty good.

It amazes me that you have gone this long without getting stuck. Congradulations....

I must be a really slow learner, because I get suck way too often. I think I'm chewing, but must not be enough. On top of that I'm not loosng weight. So, I am in a pondery about calling for another fill. So far I've had 2 fills at 1 cc each.

Keep chewing... p

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
