Hey Jess, I was supposed to have yoghurt afterwards but as soon as they stuck the fill in they made me get out of the room for the next guy. Actually it was the surgeon, his bedside manner is atrocious and I'm actually pretty annoyed that he did that. All up going in for the fill and then coming out I was in the room for about 3 minutes so your lucky you get to stick around.

My stomach swells terribly when I get a fill. I have to stick around my doc's office for 30 mins afterwards just in case I can't keep liquids down. My first fill after surgery was 2 ccs and it closed me off completely. My doc took out .5 ccs and it was perfect. After that, he only gave me .5 ccs or .2 ccs, which is really nothing. But, it kept me from getting blocked off and I could eat soft foods after my fills.

When I switched to my new doctor (my initial surgeon left the country), he gives me bigger fills and my stomach swells to the point that I can only get liquids down. My most recent fill was 1 cc and while I could drink Water in the office yesterday, I'm only keeping about half of what I drink down today. Ugh. Hopefully things are looser tomorrow.

Hey don't get too worried about needles, you'll just feel worse for when it does happen. For me I'm used to needles but honestly I hated getting the fill, my nurse did it and it was the first time - the surgeon was there watching over but like I said it was his first time, the thing that hurt the most was him pushing on the port and I heard a clicking noise and then it hurt a little bit (not from the needle) and needless to say I burst out crying for no reason lol. But that's just me. At the moment feel pretty good, straight after I got it done, I felt like a numbing feeling in my mouth but they didn't numb the area just wiped it with the alcohol wipes so don't know what was up with that. I was planning on transitioning into foods over 3-4 days but I was so hungry at lunch today so I had a tin of spaghetti which was really soft as it absorbed lots of liquid, I had that 20 minutes ago and although it didn't fill me completely I feel like I could already eat more which sucks =( The only discomfort I really had was having to hold my stomach afterwards to make sure it didn't bleed which it didn't. Also yesterday straight after the fill my throat felt tight and I was paranoid that I was going to be too tight and not be able to eat, but nothings come back up so I guess I'm good. I hope everything goes well for you for your first fill.

Thanks Sarah. I'm glad you are doing fine. Sharing your experience will hopefully make it easier for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
