Post-op BM - funny

Recommended Posts

I'm sitting here laughing my head off at your posts! I SO wish I had that problem. I've been banded 5 days now and can't get the gas OUT of my body! It just roams around like it's got nothing better to do.

man Im lucky in this respect-I dont have gas issues thankfully.Id be horrified-lol.

alatina...honey. The time has come in your life to JUST let one rip. It will forever liberate you. Part of having a band means some air is gonna get in there and burps are actually *essential*. I mean, when something feels sort of stuck, being able to burp often breaks it loose and I avoid a PB. Also, gas is normal. No, you don't need to stand in the middle of the living room and let 'er rip, but girl, you GOT TO LET THAT OUT! I'm worried. You see, they fill you up with air to do the surgery and that air HAS TO GET OUT. Otherwise there could be some very painful consequences. (edited to say I just read you were banded back in April...but still.....let the gas out!

Embrace your body. Embrace your bodily functions. It's okay, really!

I'm a walking wind bag NOW !!!! so do you mean to tell me it's gonna get worse after I'm banded?

Shall I take out some more home insurance?

LOL, I don't think home insurance covers acts of God, Nature or Gastric Instability. Sorry!

What I want to know is -- does the liquid poop stage ever end? Seriously, it's a looooong walk from my office to the bathroom at work, and sometimes I barely make it. Then the blatting as it all comes out is horrific, you know how acoustics are in big tiled bathrooms. I wonder if half the building can hear it.

Really -- someone tell me that once I'm fully switched to solids that the liquid poop stage will end... a little gas I can handle, esp burping, but this?!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
