Nope. Doesn't sound like a lot to me. I am two months post op today and have had two fills- have another one scheduled in one week. I will then go back again two weeks later. Remember- a lot of dr's do things very differently.

After our first month our doc lets us get a fill every week if we want it. i have four fill my first month post op.

No big deal. the quicker you get your fills the quicker you will get restriction.

how big is your band? I had 3 fills in 2 months and am up to 10cc's in a 14 cc band and things seem just right for now.

seems right to me. I've got 4.5cc in a 10cc band and I've got pretty good restriction. You might not be feeling so hot if you just had it today. I know my stomachs very sensitive for a fee days after a fill. Hopefully you end up with good restriction where you are at

I just watched a video of a girl getting her first fill. It did not look like fun. They numbed her, but still did not look like fun. Kind of horrific, actually. Please tell me that after they numb you that you REALLY don't feel the big pokey needle going in because it's big.

I lay on my back, pull up my shirt. The doc injects painkiller and its optional. I barely feel a prick and thats it. He has me do kind of a sit-up to help him see the port. Then he inserts a valve thicker than a needle. absolutely can NOT feel it go in whatsoever. Then I sit all the way up and feel nothing. Then he screws on a syringe and pushes in Fluid while i drink to determine restriction.

A little interesting fact they told me in the hosital is the stomach has the least nerve endings and is one of the least painful places to get a needle.

You will feel nothing related to the injection.

Thanks so much for alleviating my fear over this. It looks apparently much worse than it feels.:wink2:

I don't think that seems unreasonable. I'm a little over 2 months out from surgery and had 3 fills to date and am at 3.7 cc's in a 10cc band. I can go back every 2 weeks if I feel I need it. The nurse and I both agreed that I'm pretty close to my sweet spot so 1 or 2 more times ought to do it for awhile. The center that I go does gradual fills to avoid complications from too much restriction. Good luck getting to your sweet spot! :wink2:

the fills are NOTHING!! My dr does not use a pain killer and honestly I dont think you need one. It is over in 20 seconds!!!

I drink the barium for a before shot, I lay on my back, push my stomach out and she quiclkly injects the saline, it feels like nothing more then if someone pinches your skin with their fingers (maybe not even that bad)

The I get another upper GI to see the restriction

Thanks for that.:wink2: I'd take the Lidocaine (numbing meds) any day. I get Lido before IV insertion, too. It gets rid of the big fear factor - needles and being poked.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
