Food being stuck

Recommended Posts

Have you ever eaten or drank something and you feel a pain in your back( before banding). Its like an intense pain where it hurts to sit or stand, its actually pretty unbearable, personally speaking. Once you feel it once , you wont want to feel it again!

I had often wondered the same thing. well, I can now say with absolute certainty that YOU WILL KNOW when it happens. It happened to me this morning when I went it a mindless world of reading email while eating Breakfast. I am guessing that I was eating to fast and not chewing because I was so focused on what I was reaading. That WILL NEVER happen again> The pain was horrible. I ended up voimting before it got any better. Lesson learned: WATCH WHAT YOU ARE EATING!!!!

You'll definitely know when it happens. It hurts.. anywhere from mild discomfort to flat out pain. My stomach also makes noises when its happening(like a meow sound, lol). And 'sliming' usually accompanies it. Which is really just extra saliva accumulating in your mouth, you can swallow it, which may cause you to throw up, or spit it out, which is what I do. I also bend over and touch the floor and then reach back up to the sky as that helps with the pain.

My reaction is the same as Jenn's...extreme pain...feels like my stomache is being twisted into knots and starts gurgling. I am learning to stop at the first gurgle, if I do that then that is all good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
