I'm trying to figure out what my out of pocket expenses are going to be and I'm having a hard time getting an answer from the doctors office...Can any one help? or even give the slightest idea of what to expect???

Thank you!

What does your INSURANCE say? That's where you need to go to find out.

I have spoken to them numerous times and they said it just depends on what the doctor bills. One person said that it would be $1500 max but she seemed uncertain of that answer.

my insurance is 90/10, my out of pocket expenses were 245.00 to the surgeon...and 1450.00 to the surgery center where im having the procedure done...so almost 1700.00...

Ok, no haters, please!

My copay is $25 for the surgery. I have also had to pay a $20 copay for my psych. consult, and seven $25 copays for my six preop visits. Add to that $35 in copays to my PCP and a $25 copay for my EGD, and my out-of-pocket costs will be a whopping $280. There is one pill that I will have to take the morning of my surgery (Emend, anti-nausea med) that my insurance might not cover. If it doesn't that will be over $100, but it will be well worth it.

I feel very blessed! I guess there are some perks for being an underpaid school teacher...good insurance!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
