Have you tried carnation instant Breakfast no sugar added? its the better of Protein Shakes, even though they are still awful. I have heard that you can buy Protein Powder that is flavorless, and add it to pudding, cottage cheese, etc. ope that helps. Good luck

The hospital gave me Ensure - the vanilla flavor is pretty good. My doctor prefers optisource, but it only comes in strawberry & carmel so I am using the Optifast I used in the pre-surgery diet. It taste a lot better. The nutritionalist I saw suggested any of the Meal Replacements with 15 g of proten, 20 or less carbs, and or less 5 grams. I asked my doc about extra Protein - he said to just use the one shake (described above) for the first two weeks and not worry about the 70 - 80 until week 3. By the way, did your doc give you an expected weight loss in the first two weeks?

You and I are the same boat! I too was banded on June 11th, and am also having a hard time choking down Protein Shakes. Like another person said in this thread, try using some Carnation Instant Breakfast (sugar free, of course), it takes awful but still better than some Protein shakes. I purchased flavorless protein powder from my doc's office, and have resorted to blending some of it into some milk, ice, and a few tablespoons of sugar free Torani in either vanilla or chocolate flavor. Not great...but at least it's something close to having a milkshake! LOL. Good luck :tongue_smilie:

I have found a great Protein powder call Jay Robb. You can buy it directly from the company.. I mix 1 scoop of it with my Carnation Instant Breakfast. I also have tried Unjury... thats pretty good too.

Good Luck:rolleyes2:

The carnation instant breakfast sugar free ready-to-drink bottles actually taste better than the powder you mix with milk. They are also a little more expensive. I pay around $5.75 for a 4 pack.

I'm a big fan of Isopure. Its not a shake, more like Snapple. I 20 oz bottle has 40g Protein. It comes in several flavors. My favorite is Blue Raspberry, but I also enjoy the lemon green tea. You can get it at GNC.< /p>

You might try the Kellogs Special K protien drinks. My kids discovered them, when I was on protien drinks, went to the fridge to get my lunch and they were all gone!!!

Uhh, I was in the same boat as you, but I drank the Isopure in the beginning, but that gets old also. I'm doing the EAS Carbcontrol drink. It's not thick and sugary like the slimfast or powders and i believe it only has like 2 grams of sugar. I get them at Walmart. THey come in Choc, Van, and strawberry. :bored:

Oh,, and they have 17 grams of Protein in a 11oz drink.

The muscle milk lite does not taste bad and if you blend some Peanut Butter in with the chocolate it's quite yummy......and believe me, I'm one of those people who gave away about 6 cans of various kinds of Protein. I hate most everything I've tried!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
