Has anyone had any problems with severe runny stools, actualy like Water. I only started to drink slimfast yesterday (1/2 can) and today (1/2 can) but it goes right though me. It started yesterday where my stomach was all gassy and then bam it hit me and hasn't stopped since. Stomach makes all kinds of noises and I better be close to the bathroom. It is concerning as this is the only Protein I'm getting and it is going right through me. I am drinking water but that is it. Did anyone have this problem or is it something that will go away? I have to go back to work tomorrow (which is probably not a good idea) and I don't want to have an accident, but I have to drink some protein. HELP!

When were you banded? Your post doesn't say.

I guess this goes to show just each and everybody is different. I have been soooo unbelievably constipated for an entire week! I got constipated during my 2 week pre op diet, and now that I've had the surgery, I can't seem to have a BM to save my life! I've walked everyday, taken Mylanta and Gax-X to help with the gas buildup...but my stomache continues to be rumbling, painfull, no appetite. I hope you feel better soon.

Well DUH! I just saw the "NAME" of your post...guess if I had a brain I'd realize you'd been banded 3 days!

Diarrhea is common post op; partly anesthesia, partly the fact that liquid in/liquid out holds true. If you're worried about it call your doc tomorrow; and honestly a week is a good time to "recover" so if you can put off going back to work for another day or two, then good for you!

And Mrs. Mink...you should call your doc. Opiate pain meds can constipate but even on liquids SOMETHING should be moving through. You seriously want to catch it EARLY. Call your doc tomorrow and see if he/she thinks you need a prescription or OTC med to get things moving. Don't wait. :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
