Hi all,

I am an old timer (banded since 1997) who has just had a radical re-adjustment and has been thrown back into the fresh hell that is being newly banded. I have all these new problems I didn't have before and it's driving me nuts.

When I was first banded I lost 70kg in between mid Feb and November the same year. I worked out like a demon. I nearly went nuts. I was constantly hungry. It was the worst experience of my life. I got pregnant and couldn't work out for 4hrs a day. I regain 30kg in 3 months. That was still working out for an hour everyday. My surgeon retired and there was no one for me to consult as this was still a very uncommon surgery in Australia at the time. Since then I have regained every kilo I lost. My current GP decided my band was too loose and sent me to a local surgeon (a new addition) who has adjusted my band very tightly (3mm stoma). I have lost 5kg in two weeks. I am miserable and back where I started. Does anyone out there have a good way of relieving gas? I feel like there's a rock in my stomach.

There are days I wish I had never been banded... Do you no what really annoys me? No one ever speaks ill of the band and some days it is very difficult living with it. I spent my wedding reception with my head over a toilet because I'd eaten the wrong thing. There have been weeks where I have thrown up every meal. No one mentions that...

Hmm. I think there are plenty of folks on here who have mentioned all that you have.

There are all sorts of reasons that the various things you're going through could be occurring. But the thing is, you probably need to get into a local support group.

At the very least, I think you need to re-open your line of communication with your doctor.

Someone on here posted a list of Lap Band Rules -- maybe you could do a forum search and take a look?

So sorry you're going through this. Hopefully some folks who have gone through it can help you out!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
