Hi, I was banded on May 14 th 2008 and have lost 75 lbs. I have 65 more to go and I have been stuck in a funk since the end of Dec. It's like nothing works for me now to start losing again. When I'm really good the scale does not move any longer. I get hungry and my mind is back to wanting all the junk foods and Snacks as before. I lost the feeling of not being hungry or interested in food. I think about food now all day. I don't think I need another fill either as when I eat the bandster way I have restriction and do not want to get so tight that I cannot eat at all so I am really stuck and it is definitely messing with my mind now and don't know how to get out of this or what to do. Please advise if there is anyone that can relate to what I am going through. Thanks !!

Hi,

Welcome to the forums. I can't relate as I haven't been banded yet, but, you may have more success in the post-op section of the forums.

I can't speak from any experience on this, since I'm not banded yet either, but I've seen people in other similar posts recommend going back to your liquid only for a few days. But don't dismiss the need for a fill so easily.

And make sure you are not drinking anything with your meals.

I think that's going to be the hardest thing for me to do, especially long-term. I soooo love to "wash" my bites down with ice cold Water when I'm eating.

I can speak from experience and all I can say is work through it and it will get better. I have been on a 4 week plateu. I have not lost a thing however I know my body is changing. Doesnt make me feel better when the scale DOESNT move:(

Check your daily calorie count to make sure you are eating enough. I was in a plateau for a while and it actually took upping my calories to get me started moving downward again. If you use The Daily Plate to track your food, you can enter your current weight and your goal (lose 1 pound a week, lose 2 pounds a week, etc.) and it will suggest the number of calories you need to eat daily to meet your goal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
