Which Protein Powder to Buy?

Recommended Posts

I am having surgery soon and want to get ready -- the products all come in large amounts and I don't want to buy the "wrong" one is there one that is the best? What about if you are diabetic?

I just bought a Soy Protein Powder made by EAS at Wal-Mart it is 14 servings for just 6.98, I got the vanilla flavor and it is actually very good, I blend it with milk, ice and a bannana, I figured I was safe buying it at that price and only 14 servings in the event I did not like it, not much was invested in it

I have never really been into the Protein Drink thing since I do not like to use my calories in liquid form, and never really found a Protein powder I liked the taste of however there are days when I am very tight so I am using this as an alternative on those days which has been the last 2 days in the morning, the added pottassium with the bananna has allready made a diference in my leg cramps at night.

I Love the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury powder

www.unjury.com

I buy the vanilla flavor, mix it with milk, a banana a few strawberries and some ice.

8 ounces of skim and a scoop of powder (90 calories) has 30 grams of Protein.

I really liked the 'Nectar' brand. You can find it online or in some supplement stores. I really liked the 'fuzzy navel' (i.e. peach!) and I would mix it with some Crystal Light Lemonade and have peach lemonade! Yummmmmy!!!

I like the Musashi product, but not the premixed stuff. I generally make fruit smoothies with it.

Your local vitamin/nutrient/supplement store should be able to recommend something specifically for you and your situation though.

buying the big "kegs" is the most economical - if you can find one you like. Go to GNC and pick one out that has protien Isolate in the ingredients - that is a higher quality than the concentrate. Keep your receipt - try it for a few days - if you dont like it GNC will take it back and refund your money. Keep trying untill you find one you like.

Good luck,

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
