I actually have 2 'emergency' xanax, haven't used them (I had 3) since I flew to a family reunion in Minnesota a few years ago. It made me SO sleepy and drowsy, I hated it. I hate the feeling it gives me, it doesn't calm me down it just feels like I took a handful of sleeping pills. That's why when I've flown since, I don't take anything. If I had valium I'd be ok for things like that. I guess the xanax is for if I get kidnapped, I'll try to grab it on the way out the door lol.

Up and getting ready to start a new week and I got on the scale. So far my week is starting out right. Lost another pound. So right now I'm -2 for the July 5 pound challenge.

Let's hope this week is a better one. Today I will be gone ALL day. I work and than leave for my fill Doc appointment, from there I go meet up with a long time friend of mine that I basically only get to see evey time I have a fill appointment. We spend about 5 hours getting caught up on each other. This will actually be something I need right now. Me time and get things off my chest.

Laura, I've never tried Xanax or anything else like that. I do have my muscle relaxers from when I fell last year and broke my toe and twisted my knee. I take one about once a month. Otherwise a Margi every now and than does me good. LOL.

Everyone have a great day and I'll check in late tonight.

Who is chasing who? Is there a Ice Cream truck involved?

I went to the Dentist today and they used a strawberry toothpaste. Totally disgusting. I still am trying to get that taste out of my mouth. At this point I think it is mind over matter!!! He also told me I needed a crown!!

Bummer!!

Judy, I used it probably 2x a day for 4 days the first week I got it, I never used the full dose since it takes so long to get that much black staining stuff in em lol. Half a dose was enough to make him content, just the first lick made him stop crying immediately. I mixed it in his bottles (probably 1/4th a dose) too before they swapped him to another formula that stopped making him hurt.

Tell Kris to just try it next time Grady is having a crying spell where she can't get him happy.

Hi gals

i'm alive, wanted to check in.

I was given Wellbutrin last week before everything, and was on 1/2 the dose, but was increased to the full dose on Sautrday, my dr left it up to me if i wanted or felt like i needed the full amount. Guess what... I did

I have not slept in 3 days, maybe 5 hrs max since Thursday night, and last thing i ate was a snack wrap from McD's on Friday ... so I know not good, but I couldn't throw up again and now i'm just a mess. But happy news, i lost every ounce of what i gained on the last meds. So i'm back down 12lbs, so that is good. I had 1/2 cup of icecream tonigh, ran to the bathroom and wanted to die, but no throwing up.

I had a very small wine glass of my drink tonight with my mom, but have been trying not to drink.

Anyway, thanks, love ya and miss ya all, i'm doing much better than every imagined.

Wellbutrin is one that has to build in your system for a few weeks before it works, so stick with it!

Jenn, Hope things get better for you.

I went to my fill Doc today and I'm a loser. -7lbs. Yup, that was me on that scale today. I'm happy with it. Very happy with it.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
