I just want to thank everyone for posting on here, it has helped me tremendously! I was just banded yesterday, June 11th and I'm doing good. The whole experience went great. My surgery was scheduled for 7:30 a.m. yesterday and I was in surgery until 10:30 a.m. I was home by 2:30 in the afternoon. I had to have a hiatial hernia repair so that is why it took longer. Also I remember someone saying that it was hard to "intibate her" and I'm assuming they were talking about me, but I'll ask the doctor when I go back to have the staples removed next week.

I got home yesterday and was sipping Water throughout the day. I was on the liquid diet for two weeks prior to the surgery and I'm beginning to really be glad that I was as I think it will help my hunger now, as I'm used to that hungry feeling. I haven't had it bad yet and it is day two.

Last night my cousin went and got me won-ton Soup with no noodles or green stuff, just the broth and I had about 10 tsp. of it. I also drank two bottles of water yesterday.

I was totally surprised that I had no incision pain (I have five bandages on my stomach) but I did have that awful gas pains in my shoulders and chest. Even in recovery room I had a hard time breathing. They explain it is the gas and it takes a couple days for it to get out of your system through your skin. It is really intense pain and the pain relievers do not touch that pain.

Now today I awoke a lot more sore, feels like someone used my stomach as a punching bag, but nothing that I can't handle at all, even without pain meds it's not horrible. I have minimal gas pains in my upper chest so that is good.

I had a little more soup and I am going to try a slim fast in a while.

i know someone asked that earlier about being on this liquid diet, and I will be on this for two weeks, then two weeks of pureed then on to normal foods.

One secret I do is I take the slim fast and put it in a plastic bowl and freeze it and eat it with a spoon. I think just the idea that you are eating something...rather than just drinking it has helped. I'm going to eat a bit of the frozen slimfast in a little while too. So that is a good trick to do something different.

I don't want to get sick from not eating but I'm truly not hungry.

I willl be reading and posting regularly, so if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.

Oh...my two weeks of liquids before surgery, I ended up losing 17 pounds. I couldn't belive it. I started this journey at 168 pounds and was 151 before surgery. I'll be excited to see where I am when i go next week for my first visit.

I found I felt differently every 2 days or so. My point is how you feel today may be differnt than Sunday. I was told the stuff they used to put you to sleep wears off over 2 weeks but hangs around a little while too. Point is you might feel better in 2 days, or worst. 2 days after surgery isn't long enought to know. Its truely a 1 day at a time thing. I found it took 4-5 weeks to consistantly feel the same level of good.

I am 8 weeks out and learning patience and not to push. But it's rough as I want to lose 10-15 pounds a month (and have so far).

I also had a hiatial hernia and am super happy they fixed it! It fixed my snoring by a large percent and my chest/lung pain is finally gone.

The incisions heals in about 6 weeks although will still be visible particularly around the port.

At 3-4 weeks I started getting hungry, the fills are helping but im not there yet.

have a great recovery!

I have found this website to be very helpful too, and I enjoy reading everyone's experiences with this procedure. My pain was minimal - more of an annoyance and irritation when I wanted to do something I normally do, and I felt so great. There was some soreness, and I still need the pain meds to sleep well. Sometimes when I move too quickly I can feel a little twinge, but being the baby I am about pain, I really can't complain about any of this at all. I would do it again with no hesitation and I can't wait to see what the next 3-6 months will bring for me.

I can't believe your doctor used staples. I would not want those, but then again, I never asked, so it was anyone's guess when I woke up what he might have done.

Good luck and enjoy your recovery!
