Hey Everyone,

So I had my Surgery june 2nd, and I feel like I can basically eat whatever I want as long as I chew it up really good. I think because of this I haven't lost as much weight as I feel like I should have. I have only lost a total of 13 pounds, including the 2 week liquid diet. I am just really feeling down on myself. I saw my Dr today but he doesn't want to see me for 5 weeks to see if I will then need a fill. Is it just me being to hard on myself or should I be trying harder to not eat. But I feel like I really don't eat a lot, and i know that when I do eat I am not eating NEARLY as much as I used to. Its like 4-5 bites and I am full. I hardley ever feel hungry sometimes I can go like 6 hours without eating , so I make myself eat something. Can someone please help?

Firstly congratulations on 13lbs weightloss...it really is a great start. Now then, it is hard work until you get to your sweet spot but it can be done...just watch what you eat and exercise more and the weight will move...protein first, then veggies then carbs (if there is room) and never drink with or for 2 hours after meals. Make sure you get in 2lts fluids a day and diet....you can't pack in the high calorie foods...the band will only help reduce the quantities you can eat. Good luck and keep your chin up

If I understand you correctly you have lost 13 lbs in 3.5 weeks? That is and average of 3.7 lbs a week. That is fantastic!! Hang in there! You are on the right track!

Hi. Make sure you are eating enough. I think measuring/weighing and writing down (or using a site like myplate.com to record) everything you are eating helps. Probably won't have to do it forever, but it does show you what you are eating and breaks it down for you. Your surgery wasn't very long ago.... give yourself some time to heal. You are doing great - focus on the positive and the reasons that you had this surgery done. Keep looking at that cutie pie that is in your picture and know that you will be able to keep up with her, and be around for her, for a lot longer now that you are on the way to healthy. Keep smiling. One day at a time. Take care. Becky

I haven't been banded yet, just starting pre-op diet, but even from this perspective, your weight loss seems great to me.

From everything I've been reading this is not a magic pill and it takes work and time. Look at the dates the people were banded, the ones with the greatest weight loss were months and even a year ago. I believe the band is the tool to help you make it for the long run...not a quick fix.

During previous weigh loss attempts, these sorts of message boards really helped with support and motivation.

Good luck to you and I hope to be in your shoes in another month or so.

:wink2:

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
