Oh, Allie, I am so sorry for your pain and discomfort. Usually when you have real pain you don't get addicted to pain meds, please take them so you feel better. It was brave of you to tell us the truth about your experiences and I appreciate it. You will definitely have my prayers and good thoughts coming your way.

Mimi

Having had 5 ps procedures you have my deepest sympathies. I know what you are going through and it is hard. It will get better, but you need a lot more time. I know you don't want to hear that, but it's going to take a lot of time for all the swelling to go down. One thing that would be extremely helpful for you to do is to get regular lymphatic massage. It will help with the swelling and with the healing. My plastic surgeon required his patients to have lymphatic massage and it really taught me the value of it. I have since gotten lymphatic massage after knee surgery and lapband revision and it really helps with recovery. Laying down and just giving your body time to recover is important, however boring it might be. When I had my lower body lift, an incision de-hissed and I had to lay flat for a month. I know how much this can suck! Mentally try to get in a good place, through music, books on tape, comedy, phone conversatons, whatever helps you. I am a year out from my surgeries and so so glad that I did them. You're going to be glad when it's all over, but it's going to be a while. Your body has been through A LOT with both procedures be kind to it! I wish you the best. Use this forum for support, everyone will reach out to you! Wishing you the best!

thanks everyone... Karey I am going to check into the massages. I am still struggling as a matter of fact went back on pain killers, I just couldn't take it. I made a doctor's appt with my primary care doc. I think I might have a yeast infection from the antibiotics. All my girl parts are killing me. My hubby gave me a full body massage and focused on my thighs. It made things feel so much better. I don't know if just having him rub me and feeling so cared and loved helped or if it was the massage. I woke up in the middle of the night in the midst of a terrible nightmare and he grabbed me and tucked me into his arm and calmed me down, poor guy if it's not one thing it's the other. Have to take pain pills but they give me terrible nightmares and night sweats. But it was worth being able to sleep for a couple of solid hours. I hope I have good news with a cure tomorrow lol. Thank you so much for all of your support!

Allie: Glad you got some relief. Maybe you should ask your doc about an alternative pain med also. I know some pain meds give me nightmares and others don't. You might also ask about a sleeping medication. I have heard that the surgery you had is notorius for reaking havoc with your female parts. It's because the lymph system is seriously disturbed in this surgery. There is an exercise that you can do at home to help with the swelling there. I had some lymphadema after my LBL and went to a lymphatic specialists and she showed me this exercise because I had swelling there as well. I'll try to explain it to you. Lay on your side and cup one half of your bottom and slowly and softly follow (curving out away from your body). Pressure should be firm but very light. Do this 4-5 times and then roll onto your other side and repeat on the other half. It's very simple, but it helps. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to explain. PM me if you have a question. Someone who is good at lymphatic massage should be able to show you things to help you get relief. Keep at it and you're going to do just great! Happy Healing!

Hey everyone,

well I ended up having to go on IV antibiotics, the UTI I had gotten from the catheter never went away so not only did I have a major infection I had a allergic reaction to the cipro (antibiotic) it was sooo terrible. My lady parts were a huge mess from all that going on down there. I also had to get steroid shots to help. No wonder I was in so much agony. I also had a very inflammed hemmorohoid that had to be removed. Let's just say my downtown are is in rough shape but at least now I am on my way to being better. I was ready to pull my hair out I was so miserable. The bad and good was that from the thigh lift the feeling down there is more numb but I was still miserable from it. I didn't even realize I was running a fever. I have to go every day for a couple of hours for IV antibiotics. I refused to be admitted unless absoloutely necessary. I hate staying overnight in hospitals.. I can never sleep there. I know to get better I need rest. I also am feeling sooo much better with the steroid shots and creme. So thanks so much for your support I really appreciate it. I am on the way to being better and really seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. xoxo

Glad you decided to go to your regular doc. How did they remove the hemmorhoid? Just in the office? Doesn't not sound fun! Hope you are feeling better and the swelling is getting more reasonable! Best of wishes!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
