chantel03 0 Posted June 10, 2009 :confused:okay, so in order to get the lap band i have to lose 10-15 pounds by june 30th. i have a hip disease and it really limits the amount of exercise i can do. and obviously i have no will power when it comes to food. but i really REALLY want the band so im confident i can stick to any weight loss plan for another 20 days. i did the cabbage Soup thing last week and i went form 253 to 247 but i need to get down to 239. so i was wondering, if anyone had any tips. or what your pre op diet consisted of.i'll just do it the two weeks prior and lose Water weight. i dont need long term tips i need quick fixes. my bmi will be a 37 when i get to 239. my doc only wants me to lost this weight as a sign of commitment, but my insurance will approve me if my bmi is around a 39 so whatever i lose i will most likely need to gain back. seriously, i just need quick fixes....please help me. i want this to be the last time i ever do a "quick fix"!!!! Jodi_620 37 Posted June 10, 2009 I did Liquid Protein for two weeks and lost around 20 pounds. I was allowed chicken broth, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles and Protein Shakes and Protein powders. This diet was required by my surgeon and was extremely difficult but in the end well worth it.
Brockbabe82 0 Posted June 10, 2009 You could do the liquid diet as said, and take a Water pill, you can get them at a pharmacy in where like the diet pills and things are. Be careful though because that is just for water weight!
ParrotheadCathy 0 Posted June 12, 2009 My pre-op diet was for two weeks. I was supposed to drink a Protein Shake (with whey Protein, specifically) for Breakfast and then again in the late afternoon. For lunch and dinner, I could have 3 oz of lean protein (about the size of a deck of cards), some steamed or raw vegetables, and a single serving of whole grain carbs. I sometimes waited to eat the carbs later (so I could have a snack if I was hungry) and discovered that I usually didn't want it at all. I lost more than 8 pounds you're still looking to lose. 11c22 0 Posted June 13, 2009 i am currently 9 days into a pre-op diet. i drink three shakes a day (700 calories) and up to 200 calories of low GI veggies (lettuce, kale, spinach). i have lost 15 pounds so far (obviously, all Water weight) and i started with a BMI of 38... hope this helps. chantel03 0 Posted June 14, 2009 arent you starving? how long do you have to do this diet for?
11c22 0 Posted June 14, 2009 actually, not really. the first 2 days were challenging but after day 3, my body went into ketosis and i wasn't particularly hungry. plus, you can eat a LOT of lettuce or spinach in 200 calories. it's only a 14 day pre-op diet. mcb2009 0 Posted June 14, 2009 Hiya, I followed a strict low-carb, low-cal diet for about 7 months and lost over 100 lbs...of course over the next few years it all piled back on...but if you are looking for a quick fix diet - here's how to do it: - 2 servings of 3oz of Protein per day (skinless, boneless chicken) -2 pieces of fruit -2 slices of melba toast -pretty much as many veggies as you want...except none of the sugary, high starch ones (i.e. no carrots, peas, corn, potatoes etc) -at least 8 glasses of Water per day. If you follow it, you will lose 5lbs/week - minimum. Good luck.
chantel03 0 Posted June 19, 2009 so i figured i should update everyone on my progress. so far i have went from 253 to 243. i still have 4 pounds to lose but i have 11 days to do it in. im not to worried about it though. i figure if i get to d day and im not 239, i'll take Water pills the day before. im so excited. finally i can stop dealing with my PCM and auctually start talking to a surgeon. im a little worried about my doc making me do a 6 month supervised diet. but i figure ill cross that bridge when it comes. thanks again for all the tips. ive taken parts of all of your diets and adjusted it for me. so far so good!!!
