Lets Celebrate !!!!!

Recommended Posts

Last Friday my doctor took me off of my blood pressure medication which I have been on since my late 20's. The down side to that was I am now up a couple of pounds since I no longer have the waterpill portion of the medication. But I'll put up with that over having Hypertension!

Also on Monday I was able to fit into a dress I bought a few years ago but was never able to fit into. Nice way to turn 50!

Reading through all of our successes on so many levels is so motivating! I'm celebrating just being ON the road to success instead of on the sidelines watching (like I was for most of my adult life) as others achieve their weight/health goals! I just got 'over the hump' and have lost more than I still have to lose - over half way to goal and I couldn't be more excited :tt1:

I have had so many NSV's that I have randomly posted around I can't remember them all but my favorite of all time and I see it alot...

I can fit in an airplane seat comfortably and do up the seat belt without an extender and my DH still has lots of room in his seat because I am not spilling into it!

Mac, that's great. We are about in the same boat. I just got off my BP 3 weeks ago, gained at least 3 and then this week, lost 4, so over the hump, and you'll get back down and then some too! I had lost 8 pounds when I started taking the bp meds several years ago, so I knew this would happen to some extent. I also am turning 50 soon, next month. :blushing: GB

On Sept 12th I participated in the S. Florida Walk from Obesity. They had 3 courses, 1/2 mile, 1 1/2 mile and 2 1/2 mile. I chose the 1 1/2 mile course and finished in 30 min. I was banded on May 19th... and before then, I don't think I would have been able to complete that in 30 min... I am down 50lbs total since May 4th, which is when I started my pre-op liquid diest.

That's a fantastic accomplishment, Untfluter, that benefitted your health and others through your charitable act!

I was banded the same date as you and started my pre-op diet on 5/5. We are very close in our journey and I am thrilled with my progress and increased energy, improved health, and much brighter outlook. Best of luck to you and to us all!

I have another! I have a wedding to go to in 2 weeks and I've been dreading dress shopping. So I finally went this weekend, the first dress that I saw that I really liked I tried on. It was a size 18. I didn't think it would fit because I haven't been able to wear a size 18 dress in I don't know how long. Anyway, I figured what the heck because it was on clearance for 10 freaking bucks! So i tried it on and it fit PERFECTLY! I didn't even have to suck my stomach in, lol. I was thrilled.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
