I was banded back on 10/13/08 and my recovery was very smooth. I'm down a total of 45 pounds from my highest, but only about 33 since surgery.

Everyone says that once you reach restriction, it is a whole different world and many find themselves losing weight more easily.

Ummm....well why isn't this happening for ME!! I faithfully went every 4 weeks for small fills until I felt good restriction. I've had one small .3 cc unfill because I was a little too tight. So why o why am I still at the same friggen fraggin weight? I don't eat that much and have fairly good daily activity. I wasn't too pleased that it took me about 7 months to finally get restriction, but I kept thinking that things will change once I'm at my sweet spot.

These are those frustrating times I honestly wish I had chosen the sleeve over the band.

Thanks for listening to my rant :grouphug:

Here are a couple of questions you should ask:

Are you eating the right things?

How much are you eating?

Are much are you exercising?

Are you getting your Water and Protein in?

Are you eating slow and not drinking at the same time?

If you are doing all of these things then you need to see your surgeon or a nutritionist to see what is going on.

I hope things get better for you, but in my eyes you sound like you are doing good. Keep your head up and stay positive.

I'm in the same boat Cattoy. I've had 4 fills and am definitely feeling restriction, but am just not losing weight. After this last fill, I thought for sure that I would see the scale heading downward, but it's not.

I find that I eat a couple bites and feel the pressure of the restriction. If I feel "stuck", I get up and walk around a little bit, and I usually feel better in a couple of mins. Then I sit back down, eat slower, chew more, and can finish my meal. I know I am eating much less than I ever did before, but am not seeing the results on the scale.< /p>

I am still seeing my nutritionist and she says that I'm only supposed to be able to eat a cup of food. I'm pretty sure that I'm eating more than that, but I don't feel full from the band, it just slows me down. Should I feel full?

I'm wondering if I should get another fill. I am afraid to, because I don't want to get sick. I do not drink with my meals. I forgot a couple times and took a sip with my meal and ended up heading for the bathroom. Do you think I am "eating around the band" as they say?

I don't think you are eating around the band unless you are eating mainly mushies and bad stuff.

Are you keeping your calories around 1200?

Are you keeping your fat low?

Are you drinking enough Water? You need Water to flush the bad stuff out.

A few things to consider.

I am so with you cattoy71. I was banded 10-22-08. I am only down 50. Most of that was preop and the first 2 weeks after band. I have been at 218 for weeks now. I had a fill a week ago, but i don't think it helped much. I know I'm not getting enough Water or enough Protein. So I am going to up those and see what happens. I had a friend who is getting the sleeve next week and she said the same thing yesterday. Bet you wish you had the sleeve. But I don't I didnt want 1/2 my stomach gone forever. I want to do this with the band. I am frustrated with the slow loss. But I am not gaining like before band. I pray we can get through this together.

Protein, protein, protein. I find I frequently plateau due to "metabolic resistance". If I up my protein, for awhile, the plateau breaks loose. I'm not a quick loser but I am a continuous loser.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
