Hi,

I was banded on the 18th of May, so i am just starting to walk again. I have been able to walk 45 minutes to an hour at about 2.3-2.5 mph. I was just wondering when the "Wow, that was grind" workout feeling will get less?? It really wears me out!! I feel really tired after doing just minimal activity, am i still healing?? I go to see my doctor tomorrow so .... Also i was wondering if anyone out there hit a plateau in the first weeks after the band, i seem to be hanging out at 9-11 weight loss?? Well, i will take it though, i am very happy that all my clothes are fitting again!!:grouphug: Thanks in advance, L.

yes ma'am. Most people hit that first little plateau after surgery...especially when you start to move from liquids to mushies. You body has to figure out what the heck is going on. It will start moving again! As for your energy, its a gradual thing as well. Could be you might benefit from some b-12. I would bet though that bc you arent taking in very many calories, your body might need some more fuel for your fire. I was on Clear Liquids for a week after surgery and eventually had to call my doc and ask if I could at least move to full liquids bc I was so tired and getting light headed.

Talk to you doc about it! That's awesome you are walking though!

I, too, have hit a plateau -- I was banded on May 21, and lost 16 lbs in the first week. However, I haven't lost anything since then. My doctor said that once all the Water weight is gone (all the weight in the first week), it takes your body a while to realize that it's not starving, and to stop hoarding fat and allow you to lose weight.

I, too, am winded after just 30 minutes of brisk walking, but I attribute it to my continued recovery, and am looking forward to the exercise getting easier!

Best of luck to you!! :grouphug:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
