I've seen a lot of negative on the site and want to share some positive. I was banded 5/14/09 and this week I weighed and hit the 20 lb lost mark. I am so excited! I am down a clothing size and never knew how good I would feel with just 20 lb gone. I had no fill at time of surgery and won't have a fill until the 23rd of this month. The compliments I'm receiving make me feel so good and that I am a success at weight loss. People call this "bandster hell" as your hunger does increase but keep in mind "you can do it"! I remind myself everyday that this is a chance of a lifetime to regain my life and take control. I am really amazed that doing without the carbs can become a habit. I'd rather have the Protein to fill up on rather than the junk. As my doctor reminded me at my first visit this journey is up to me, no one else and nothing else, not even the band. Just encouraging everyone to get their head back in the game and not to think with your stomach. I have now set another goal of 20 more pounds and will share more as I get to my new goal.

Starting Weight 276

Now Weight 256

Goal Weight 150

Take that positive energy, remember it, and use it to get through the future. I'm down to losing about 1/2 pound every week or sometimes 2 weeks, but it continues to go in the right direction.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
