Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I was banded on 12/2/2008 and Im doing great. Im down from 264 to 204 and loving it. You will go thru some ups and downs but just take day by day and be happy and BLESSED. I've started my weight loss journey blog page and would love for some of you to join and talk with me about your band and everyday life.

Hey Christy- You sound like you are doing great. I was banded 6/5 and still in "functioning" mode. I will definitely check out your blog. There are a great group of bloggers that I follow from all over the world- you should check it them out (listed on my blog). Besides this forum they are a great source of feedback.

Linda

I know that I was embarrassed to start off with to tell others about my plans to have lapband because I was so judgmental and jealous of others who could not only afford this surgery but appeared to be cheats in the weight loss world and only because I would work so hard to lose weight and get no where. Well not only was I wrong in judging these people but when I found out that I had sleep apnea and an under active thyroid to add to all my weight loss woes I realised that this surgery is a life saver for all of us and decided that I would let everyone that showed an interest in me know about my new journey and be proud of it because really it is just a tool to help us succeed and that is entirely up to us. But more importantly I know that others will think the same of me that I previously thought of others and that is something I can live with because of what I have learnt. And I can defend and explain what this journey and how hard it really is to any doubting thomas. You will make the right choice as to who you want to know and you will succeed and shine doing it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
