Dr. Pepper Chicken Recipe question

Recommended Posts

I found this recipe for Dr. Pepper chicken on the Internet (after getting the idea from on the "What did you eat today?" thread) and it is really good. The chicken is very moist. Does anyone know what the nutritional values would be... or know where I could go to figure them out?

TiA!

Ann

Ingredients

  • 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 can of Diet Dr. Pepper
  • 1/2 cup of ketchup
  • salt, pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Spray the bottom of a heavy pot with non-stick spray
  2. Season chicken and brown a few mins on each side
  3. Mix can of diet dr. pepper and ketchup
  4. Pour over chicken
  5. Bring to a boil, cover & simmer for 45 mins. (Note: We just simmered for two hours, until the chicken was fork-shreddable and all the sauce was soaked up.)

You can also do this in the crock pot with Diet Coke...even my kids ask for it! It's yummy!

Here is the info for 6 servings (1 breast each) using Diet Coke:

Calories 279.6

Fat 3

Cholesterol 137mg

Sodium 382mg

Carbs 5.2

Protien 54.8

Hope that helps!

Try marinate for about 3 hours and then grill it. That is what my husband does.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
