Hi all, Im David from Cali and I was Banded June 3rd in the OC by Dr.leporte's office through LiteDimensions. I am now posting as Im just starting to feel human again as the pain and gas was wearing me out, I still havent eatin much and my Water intake isnt that great but getting better. I have droped 15 lbs post op pounds and 10 pre for a total of 25 lbs. Im happy! My goal is to drop 130 more and Im cool.

I am excited about it and understand its not the magic bullet but a great tool to get me where I want to be. I have studied the Lap and Bypass for 2 years before I made a decission and for me the there was no option here. Well i hope to learn more from all of my fellow bandsters and hope to make some connections here as well, you see that Im very free and friendly too

Hi David

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on getting banded; Sorry to hear you've had a rough few days, but glad to hear you're starting to feel better!

I'm 27 and from Australia, due to be banded on 18th August 2009 - I live in an area where there are only two surgeons who do banding, so I have had quite a wait! As someone who has never been to hospital (except to be re-hydrated on a drip after falling ill), I am absolutely terrified of the surgery but believe I am brave enough to do it.

I look forward to sharing your journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
