Thanks for the post! I checked it but it said there were NONE in my area. Put in a zip code of the next biggest city, still NONE. I'm in the sticks!

But I put in my former zip from out west...my doc wasn't on the list. Yet he is the most sought after doc out there. But I'll check it again in a few months to see if anyone around here is listed....I have to go to Mexico for an adjustment because it's just cheaper to fly to SAN and back than it is to my former doctor, rent a car, etc.

Maybe he is not registered on the site or he just uses a different brand band.

After care is one of the biggest "dirty little secrets" about getting a lapband. Good luck finding anyone to take care of you if you move, have the bad luck to get a "know it all surgeon" who will not listen to you when you start having problems with the band, etc.

I literally have called surgeons in 3 different states and not one will take me as a patient. I am a travel nurse. No one told me I would be joined to my surgeons hip for the rest of my life if I want a fill or develop problems with the lapband. I was never told before surgery that no one would see me except for the surgeon who did my operation if any problems develop.

If I had it to do over again, I would have went with the sleeve.

I contacted 4 docs on that lapband.com site you gave.....they are 1 1/2 hours away but they all said they would take on new move-in patients.

Thanks again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
